Robert Perry Named Managing Partner of King & Spalding’s New York Office
30 Jul 2007

NEW YORK, July 30, 2007–King & Spalding, a leading international law firm, announced today that Robert F. Perry, 49, has been appointed managing partner of its New York office. He replaces Michael J. O’Brien, who resigned from the firm.

A noted patent litigator with extensive experience in electrical and computer engineering, Perry joined King & Spalding’s New York office as a partner in August 2004 from Kenyon & Kenyon, where he was a member of its management committee. Perry has been instrumental in expanding King & Spalding’s intellectual property practice in New York, especially in the areas of patent litigation and patent prosecution.

In his new role as managing partner, Perry will oversee the firm’s New York office.

Commenting on his own appointment, Perry said: “I am honored to be asked to manage the firm’s New York office. I look forward to building on our strong foundation. We will continue to develop our practices of corporate/private equity, real estate capital markets, finance, financial restructuring, intellectual property, securities/business litigation, international arbitration and professional services liability. We will also explore opportunities in further service areas. We are enthusiastic about the many opportunities before the firm as a whole and I expect the New York office to continue to be at the center of many of them.”

Robert D. Hays, Jr., chairman of King & Spalding, said: “We are proud to have Bob’s capabilities and leadership skills as part of the firm’s management team. This is an exciting time for King & Spalding, which is in a strong expansion phase. We opened three new offices in the past year and have added 52 lawyers, including 8 partners, in New York in the past 18 months. Bob is committed to driving forward our key initiatives and growth.”

In July 2007, King & Spalding opened an office in Charlotte, North Carolina, its third new office in the last year and its eighth worldwide location. This latest expansion came on the heels of its strong performance in 2006, with double-digit growth in revenue and profits per partner. The firm also opened an office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in December 2006, and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in April of this year.

Perry earned a B.E.E. from Manhattan College in 1979, an M.B.A. from Seton Hall University in 1984 and a J.D. from Seton Hall Law School, magna cum laude, in 1989.

King & Spalding’s New York office employs 130 lawyers practicing in a variety of areas including banking, business litigation, corporate finance, energy, financial restructuring, intellectual property, Islamic finance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, tax and real estate, among others.

About King & Spalding

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A new general manager has been named at the Port Authority’s three Staten Island bridges, and he has quite a unique office.

Paul Pittari will report for duty at his new post high above the Goethals Bridge toll plaza later in August.

There, he will have a bird’s-eye view of all the comings and goings of more than 26 million vehicles a year.

Pittari also will oversee the total day-to-day operations of the Outerbridge Crossing and the Bayonne Bridge, which he said is the nicest from an aesthetic perspective, but was quick not to pick a favorite.

The Island’s Port Authority-owned crossings are undergoing a study to determine if all-electronic high-speed tolling can be implemented in the place of toll takers. The Goethals is also in the middle of a study to determine the future of the nearly 80-year-old span, which is due to be replaced. The draft environmental impact study for the Goethals Replacement Project is tentatively scheduled to be released by the U.S. Coast Guard next spring.

“It’s coming at an interesting time,” Pittari said of his new appointment. “I’m really looking forward to it.”

The new general manager will replace Jerry DelTufo, who has taken a new position at the Port Authority-owned World Trade Center.

Pittari has plenty of bridge experience under his belt, having served as Physical Plant Manager of the Port Authority’s three Staten Island spans from 2003 until last year, when he was named Chief of Maintenance at the PA’s New Jersey Marine Terminals.

Pittari, 38, a graduate of Manhattan College, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer in both New York and New Jersey.

He lives in Clark, N.J. with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children.

Tom Connolly’s Fraud Case

***Begin Quote***

The first Chapter written on Connolly’s escapades goes back to his days as a Democrat. Tom needed a job and bugged people in the party until he got himself a job in Troy as a Purchasing Agent in 1986, a Civil Service position. He managed to get the job by falsifying a job application checking, YES to the question regarding graduating from a 4 year college when in fact he had not. He stated on the application he had received a B.S. degree from Manhattan College graduating in 1980. The Troy Record reported the story on 3/24/94 and also added that a college official whose father’s name was coincidentally, Tom Connolly, could not remember anyone working at the college by that name as Connolly also claimed to the Record. So Tom managed to get a job he did not qualify for by lying, thereby screwing someone who did qualify out of the job. Now that sounds more like a case of fraud to the Pipeline.
