Winter Park High School 2006 graduate Amanda McCormick was named to the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team while studying environmental engineering as a sophomore at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York.
She also was awarded the first-ever nationwide American Navy Aces Association Academic/Community Service scholarship for an essay she wrote commemorating her grandfather, William A. McCormick, a highly decorated World War II Navy ace.
She is the daughter of Susan and Michael McCormick of Winter Park.
