Hello Ferdinand,

The reason that Manhattan College, on the past and now, spoke about social Social Justice is because Jesus was in favor of Social Justice. In Jesus’ time the rich trampled on the poor.

The purpose of American government is to create a fair playing field for all. For a time Unions were out of control. Now Corporations are out of control. Age discrimination and oligopolies are commonplace. Speaking up for Social Justice is what is needed. Manhattan College is doing the right thing.

This is not about putting people on the dole. People just want a fair chance to make a living, without someone picking their pockets.

Earning a wage and not being able to buy food disguises the problem (like the temperature analogy that you made). The statistics indicate that people are employed but they can’t buy food. If they were unemployed, at least the statistics would show it and action would be encouraged.

I wasn’t around in Jesus’ time, so I don’t know what he favored. The purpose of the American Government, which has morphed into the Gooferment we have now, started out as:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with inherent and inalienable rights; that among these, are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.” –Declaration of Independence as originally written by Thomas Jefferson, 1776. Government’s PROPER role is to protect rights; nothing else. No social justice. No dole. No all sorts of stuff — social security, funny money, aggressive wars, drug prohibition, income tax, etc. etc. etc. etc.

We have created fourth generation welfare “farmers” — black and white. We have created corporate welfare where business buy favors. We have created an educational complex that rivals the military industrial complex that Dwight Eisenhower was afraid of.

“Social Justice” is a code word for government welfare.

What we have is ’slavery’ — by taxes and inflation — where I can’t even tell how much a ’slave’ I am. It feels like 90%! (Federal Income Tax, Social Security, State, County, Township, Gas Tax, and all the taxes that a buried in the cost of products I have to buy.

Argh!
