MEET THE PRESIDENT
OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Thomas G. Jordan is President of the Board of Trustees of
the Shelter Rock Public Library. He was elected a trustee in
1987 and has been President since 1992. While on the
building committee Tom has given many hours reviewing
contracts and specifications as well as meeting with the
Libraryʼs architects and Town of North Hempstead officials.
He is looking forward to our renovation and expansion project
along with the positive impact it will have on our library
community.
Tom has more than 30 years experience as an electrical
engineer in the design of primary substations, electrical distribution
systems, telephone, sound, signal, control and
alarm systems as well as computer installations and electrical
disaster recovery systems. He is a partner in his own
engineering firm. Some of the projects he has worked on
include: the AIG Corporate Headquarters, Empire State
Building Visitor Center, HBO Headquarters Building, Kings
County Hospital, Brooklyn College Library, CUNY Graduate
School, and Greentree Foundation. Tom has both BEE and
MEE degrees in electrical engineering from Manhattan
College in Riverdale, New York.
Tom, his wife and children moved to New Hyde Park from
Middle Village in 1986 when he immediately became
involved with the library. Tom has four children who attended
the Herricks schools, the youngest daughter who has
just graduated from college. He enjoys the company of his
three granddaughters. Tomʼs hobbies include skiing and
running which included his participation in the run up the
Empire State Building five times.
