Dear Fellow Jasper Tom ’68:

If possible, do you have the text of your remarks and would you be willing to share them with the Jasper Jottings community. Evidently, you hit home with at least one of the listeners. (Someone who was there left a comment on the Jasper Jottings story.)

Either way, thanks for considering it and thanks for inspiring,

Dear John,

Tom Heffernan was Class of 1968. He was a great guy back then and I can report after my phone call to congratulate him on his honorary doctorate, he is still the same great guy today.

Best,
Bill Seebeck ’71

[JR: Well, Dick and Mike reported that Class Year also. Which I appreciate. When someone has a minute, it would be nice to have the text of his remarks that were so inspiring. Too bad it wasn't video taped. Or at least audio recorded. With YouTube being viral amoung the youth, we are missing at lest one way to reach out to help MC recruit. Besides, old alums need inspiration too. Especially in the "interesting times" we are living in. Isn't that the old Chinese curse? Thanks for the report. fjohn68]

CARTOON: Obama’s seal?

From: Jerry Breen
Date: October 27, 2008 6:45:53 PM EDT

Subject: new Obama cartoon

Obama's Seal of Office

Obama

John: As you know, I don’t usually collaborate with anyone else on political cartoons, but sometimes I make an exception. A few days ago, Lonnie Mussell, a small business man from Stockbridge, Georgia, who owns a construction business, sent me the idea for this cartoon, which I drew for him. Much like the celebrated “Joe the plumber”, Lonnie is concerned that Obama’s tax plans would actually punish the middle class and small businesses. And like Joe, he was shocked by Obama’s answer that Joe should support Obama’s efforts to “spread the wealth around”. (Obama’s commitment to Socialist redistribution of wealth was confirmed by a 2001 Chicago Public Radio interview in which he described his plans at great length.) So I was only too glad to help Lonnie out by illustrating his concept. Here it is. Sincerely, Jerry Breen

POSITRACTION: “Bubbling Over”!

http://www.lifetrekcoaching.com/provisions/20081019.htm

PROVISION #587 (10/19/08): CONTRIBUTE YOUR JOY

*** begin quote ***

When people are fully alive they bubble over with joy. This joy is neither silly giddiness nor ignoring reality. This joy is rather the full engagement that comes from doing what you love. At its best, such engagement is not only self-serving (there’s nothing wrong with that) it’s also life-serving (bringing joy to many others in the process). When was the last time that you bubbled over with joy and blessed others in the process?

*** end quote ***

I find this fellow’s work very inspiring. Not that I do much. But. It does make me think about what I could be doing? Have you “bubbled over” today? This week? This lifetime?

Submitted humbly for your consideration,
The Collector In Chief

p.s., does a “chief” have to have “indians”?
