Ask people who know North Rockland’s Diana Lorentz and they’ll probably tell you she takes a real modest approach and doesn’t like to say much about herself. But for someone who’s played varsity tennis since eighth grade and has gone 62-0 in league play, what else needs to be said?

Lorentz, who has a 95 academic average, will continue playing tennis at Manhattan College, having recently signed her National Letter of Intent. Even though she has high hopes about playing in the pro circuit one day, she just wants to concentrate on her next four years for now.
“I see myself playing some pro tournaments as I get older,” Lorentz said. “But I’m just going to focus on Division I tennis and see what happens.”
The Journal News Rockland Scholar-Athlete of the Week program honors students for their academic, athletic and community achievements. Each week a winner is selected from the nominees submitted by athletic directors. Only seniors can be nominated and the award can be won only once.

[JR: Smart and competitive athlete coming to MC. Hope she survives the ordeal. She should; she's got a racket! Going to break a few hearts along the way too imho.]
