FATHER ROBERT KINNALLY NAMED TO SHU BOARD OF TRUSTEES

SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY NEWS

November 11, 2008

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Rev. Robert M. Kinnally, parochial vicar of St. Pius X Parish in Fairfield, has been named to the Board of Trustees of Sacred Heart University. The board is Sacred Heart’s principal governing body.

Father Kinnally had a long and varied career prior to his ordination in 2005. He taught special education at Iona College and was an admissions director at Pace University, Purchase College, the University of Bridgeport, and Sarah Lawrence College, where he was also dean of admissions. He was later dean of admissions and financial aid at Stanford University.

Father Kinnally earned degrees in English from Manhattan College and New York University and a degree in sacred theology from the Catholic University of America. A professional organist, pianist and vocalist, he has served as music director and organist at parishes in Connecticut and New York. Among his present responsibilities, he is a coordinator of St. Pius’ ministries for those with special needs and for young people, and he is coordinator of ministry to the newly ordained for the Diocese of Bridgeport.

“I am honored to serve as a trustee of Sacred Heart,” said Father Kinnally. “Over the many years of my professional life in higher education, I have watched Sacred Heart become the gem it is today. Now as a priest of the Diocese of Bridgeport and a steward of the University, I have the privilege of helping Sacred Heart remain true to its mission of educating in the Catholic intellectual tradition and preparing students to be true leaders in a complex world.”
