EVP Gialanella Brings Enterprise Management, Global Corporate Services Tools to CBRE NJ Market Clients and Professionals
CB Richard Ellis announced that David Gialanella, executive vice president, Brokerage, has been named to head its New Jersey management team. In assuming his new role, Mr. Gialanella will bring his deep knowledge and national experience in Enterprise Management, Global Corporate Services and marketing to CBRE’s clients and professionals in the New Jersey market.
“Dave has an outstanding record of putting innovative and effective tools into the hands of professionals and will do so for our New Jersey service line professionals,” said Mitchell E. Rudin, president and CEO, New York Tri-State Region, CBRE. “He will also serve as a productive conduit between that market and the work he continues to perform as our Global Head of Transactions Services, and a member of the Americas Brokerage Management team.”
As part of this leadership change, Jeff Hipschman, senior managing director, will expand his role to focus on statewide management of all business lines for the firm. Mr. Hipschman brings more than 15 years of commercial real estate operations experience to CBRE’s New Jersey management team, having most recently run the firm’s East Brunswick office, and prior to that the Research/IT side of CBRE’s business. Mr. Hipschman will be in the Saddle Brook office.
In addition, Patrick Luzzi, managing director, also resident in the firm’s Saddle Brook office, will assist Messrs. Hipschman and Gialanella as he continues his management of CBRE’s New Jersey associate program and sales professionals. Expanding on this role, Mr. Luzzi will be more involved in overall brokerage management with a focus on professional development.
Mr. Gialanella, who will be in CBRE’s Saddle Brook office, joined the firm in 2005, and previously served as part of the New York Tri-State Region Leadership Team focusing on the expansion of the Region’s brokerage referral business. Under his leadership, revenue from referrals into and out of the New York Tri-State Region grew by more than 80 percent from the end of 2005 through 2007. A native of New Jersey, he has deep roots in the New York and New Jersey marketplace. Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Gialanella has held several senior level positions at CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield. He holds his undergraduate degree in History from Seton Hall University. He has a Masters in City and Regional Planning from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and an MBA in Finance from Manhattan College.
It was announced also that Ray Sohmer, executive managing director and the former market leader for New Jersey, is returning to full-time brokerage in the state. Mr. Sohmer, who was instrumental in building CBRE into the largest brokerage firm in New Jersey, joined CBRE in 2001. Mr. Sohmer has helped to successfully guide the New Jersey operations through two major integrations — Insignia/ESG in 2003 and Trammell Crow Company in 2006/2007. In producing business for CBRE, he will continue to cultivate the many relationships he has built with Fortune 500 and entrepreneurial companies throughout his 26-year distinguished career.
