Tegy Thomas is the founder of SuperNova 7 Productions (SN7), a global grassroots group that empowers social entrepreneurs. SN7 is currently working on an open source portal for social entrepreneurs (called Nebula) and multimedia projects that would focus on triple bottom line initiatives. Tegy has spent the last two years working feverishly as a volunteer for the Obama campaign at the grassroots level with such groups as Generation Obama New York City; London for Obama and DC for Obama. Tegy’s campaign experience began in 2004 when he worked in varied capacities for the Kerry-Edwards Presidential campaign and the Eliot Spitzer gubernatorial campaign. He also has served as an intern for Senator Jon Corzine (NJ) in 2004. Mr. Thomas has worked at Voter News Service; a consortium of major news networks which provided results for the 2002 United States Presidential elections. Before getting involved in the campaign world, Mr. Thomas began his career in the financial services sector holding positions with Datek Online Holdings Corp and Signature Bank and Securities both in the NY metro area. Tegy’s true passion lies in film and technology, while trying to fuse both disciplines in underserved and developing communities. He has been affiliated with several film festivals, including AFI/Discovery SILVERDOCS Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and the IFP Market and Filmmaker Conference. In June of 2005 he served as Associate Producer of a multimedia slideshow, presented at the United Nations, focused on the Ganesh Festival in India. During his undergraduate years Tegy was involved in the health care sector with a specific focus in pharmacy and physical therapy. He worked for a health care administrator and gained invaluable experience while working with other allied health professionals in rehabilitation clinics, long term care facilities, and hospitals. To better understand the relationships of corporate social responsibility, education, and social impact, Tegy worked on a grassroots campaign initiated by Nike called P.L.A.Y. (Participated in the Lives of America’s Youth). He recruited college students in the NY metro area to market the Nike P.L.A.Y. program and then later went on to work for the “Subway Series” campaign contracted by Nike athletes. Mr. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College and has a Master’s of Science in Organizational Development and Knowledge Management at George Mason University’s School of Public Policy. He resides in Silver Spring, MD with his wife and two children.
