Bernard A. Murphy
MURPHY Mr. Bernard A. Murphy, age 73, of Milford, beloved husband of Tatiana Murphy, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Connecticut Hospice, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late Bernard A. and Philomena G. Romano Murphy, he was born on December 30, 1935 in Yonkers, N.Y. Bernard was a customer service manager at Sikorsky Aircraft until his retirement and graduated from Manhattan College with a B.S. degree. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his beloved wife, survivors include his six devoted children, James Murphy and his wife, Lisa of Alabama, Doris Mortimer and her husband, Kurt of Bethel, Sherri Hottin and her husband, Glenn of Oxford, Cathy Willey and her husband, Scott, Brian Stevens and his wife, Wendy and Kim Geer and her husband, Frank all of Milford; 15 loving grandchildren, Ryan, Danielle, Brendan, Sarah, Matthew, Joseph, Joshua, Sarah, Nicholas, Jake, Tiffany and her husband Mark, Shannon, Morgan, Frank and Emily; two cherished great-grandchildren Avery and Cooper. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Franklin and Tatiana Jones; sisters-in-law, Eileen Jones of Milford and Cynthia Tomaszewicz of Vermont; his uncle and aunt, Graves and Cecil Simons of Florida; four cousins, six nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford from 4 to 7 p.m., with a service to follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
