In Plumsted, Republican incumbents Michael McCue and Eric Sorchik are running unopposed for two, three-year Township Committee seats. Both candidates say they would like to install a sewer system in the downtown area and maintain the township’s rural character.
Mr. McCue, 56, of Cream Ridge, would enter his second term as committeeman if re-elected. He has lived in the township for 20 years.
The committeeman earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Manhattan College and his master’s degree in the same field from The University of Virginia. Mr. McCue has a master’s degree in business from Adelphi University, in Garden City, N.Y., and a juris doctor degree from Seton Hall University, in South Orange.
Mr. McCue served on the Ocean County Agricultural Development Board from 2002 to 2007 and has served on the township Municipal Utilities Authority since 2006.
He is a process safety manager for Solvay Solexis, Inc., in Thorfare.
The committeeman says the governing body has preserved the town’s farmland and kept taxes low during his tenure.
”We have maintained our present, excellent financial condition by restrained fiscal management and aggressively seeking county, state and federal grants to supplement 20 years of stable municipal tax policy,” he said. “We are planning for Plumsted’s future by implementing a redevelopment plan to bring sanitary sewers to our historic downtown that will revitalize the township.”
