JEmail: Dans, Peter E. (MC1957) liked this week’s effort

Hi John:

Thanks again for all your hard work in keeping Manhattan College alumni linked together. I loved the story about 90 year old Andy Neidnig. It would have been interesting to hear about the three times that he was almost killed during the Battle of the Bulge, but he was reticent about telling the stories. This was very typical of World War II veterans like my stepfather who spent half of the war at sea in the merchant marines on some very hazardous troop and supply runs but never talked about it. Nowadays with Twitter and cellphones, people can’t shut up about the most trivial and personal things in their lives.

I also was impressed by the accomplishments of the neuropathologist at the University of Rochester, Dr. Powers.

Finally, I must agree with your last words about the devastating effects of the failure of Catholic leadership on Catholic schools and religious orders. Sadly, it continues to this day.

Keep up the good work.

Best regards,
Peter E. Dans (’57)

[JR: Doctor Dans, Thanks for the high praise. I'm just the "sewer pipe" passing stuff along. We need some cub reporters to go capture that story before it escapes forever. As my book, CHURCH 10●19●62 demonstrates, any one can get anything in print. (Unlike your legitimate works.) At near zero cost. There's no reason for these stories to "disappear". I was always entranced by the FireFox series, where a bunch of college kids captured Americana right around them. Most of the WW2 vets I knew NEVER spoke of their personal story. Always about their friends. if at all. Hey, don't complain about twitter @jasperjottings is there too. Instantaneous Jasper news. No delay. :-) As I say, I am journalizing the success of my fellow alums. If I can't be a success, then let me chronicle others'. Sad, isn't' it. We let the gooferment stick it's nose in "charity", "education", "healthcare", and now we have a mess. I feel for posterity; we've made a mess of this. I'll try, but I'm looking to train a replacement. Those obits' Class Years are starting to get painfully close. Thanks for the "steam" to keep on going. Wife says my head barely fits thru the door now; you may have pushed it over the edge.]
