[JR: Perhaps, but I think we can indict a whole generation of Church leadership, including the laity and the Irish Catholic politicians. We lost the battle to limit government to a tight little box and we failed to hold Catholic Politicians to high standards. JFK was an exemplar of the problem. I think that, when the "Decline and Fall of the American Empire" is written, the takeover of education by Dewey and Mann using the Prussian model will be the singular watershed event to our decline. It allowed the Secular Progressives to in one fell swoop to: dumb down the electorate, destroy religion by brainwashing the children in religious families, and simultaneously train the "cannon fodder / factory worker" population to led into war and welfare. And, the Church leadership allowed it to happen. And, I see no way to reverse the decline. Michael Jackson gets a national frenzy; Brian Bradshaw is unknown! Sigh. Any more and I'll be in an endnote. In my opinion, the watershed event beginning the current decline of traditional American values and the open acceptance of Progressive teachings was the censuring of Joe McCarthy. He was providing a public service identifying Communists who were out to undermine American values by brainwashing our youth in our schools. Once the Progressives got McCarthy out of the way they were free to pack our schools and colleges with pinko teachers who poisoned the minds of an entire generation. If you wonder how come the media is 85% Leftist, just look at the teachers in our schools of journalism. We need more schools like Hillsdale College who refuse all government handouts, so that they are free to teach American traditionalist values without having their curriculum dictated to them by a progressive US Dept. of Education.
