John Finnerty III
DOVER — John J. Finnerty, III of Three Rivers Farm died Thursday, July 30, 2009.
Jack was born March 23, 1957 in Rockville Centre, N.Y., the son of Arline and John J. Finnerty, Jr. He excelled in many sports and was an All American Basketball player in high school. He went on to Manhattan College, where he continued to play basketball and earned a degree in business science.
Jack had a very successful and enjoyable career as a salesman and manager in New York City for almost 20 years. He later moved to Dover, where he continued to work in sales and spend time with his family.
In recent years, he developed a passion for writing and contributed many articles to several online news sources, including the New York and London Times, The Onion and The Associated Press.
Jack is survived by his wife and college sweetheart, Jean and his daughter, Jacqueline, 21, who he was proud to see graduate from UNH in May. He loved them very much and they love and miss him.
He is also survived by his mother, Arline of Westport, Conn.; two sisters, Arline McGowan and her husband, Richard, of Westport, Conn., and Lillian Solomon and her husband, Bruce, of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.; and five nieces and eight nephews, who he loved very much.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m.
