Patrick F. O’Sullivan

O’SULLIVAN, Maj. Patrick “Pat” Major Patrick F. O’Sullivan was born to John and Jane O’Sullivan of Queens, New York City. He was the youngest of three children and the only American born member of his family, He attended Manhattan College and worked as a law clerk while preparing for a career in law. During the Korean conflict, he enlisted in the Air Force where he worked as a mechanic, a navigator, a pilot, and instructor pilot during his twenty year career. Too tall for fighters, he flew C123′s, C130′s and many other aircraft, He served his country proudly flying combat missions in the Vietnam War, He was stationed at Naha, Okinawa, Japan, and flew in and out of bases in Southeast Asia, Pakistan and Europe, Patrick retired from the Air Force and continued with his education earning a degree in economics from his beloved alma mater, Ohio State University. He earned a business degree from Central Michigan University and his MBA from Georgia State University. He worked in personnel in the civilian world and taught accounting classes at DeKalb College before starting his career as a civilian with the United States Army. Handling budget concerns and contracting for the U. S. Army, Pat spent the next twenty-one years traveling to Puerto Rico, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan and many other locations in the Middle East, He earned the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and was honored by General Tommy Franks who presided over his second retirement.

Patrick was a devoted husband and father. He passed away quietly at home August 14, with his beloved wife of 46 years at his side. He is survived by his wife, Emily, his daughter Patricia, his two sons, John and Michael, his granddaughter Zadie Elizabeth, his son-in-law Eddy, Maureen, Geoffrey, Kathleen, and Kevin, nieces and nephews of New York. In Ireland, he is survived by nieces and nephews, Mary, Deidre, Gay, William, Kieran, Brendan and many grand nieces and nephews, In addition to family,

Pat cherished the many loving and loyal friends he made around the world. Family and friends will honor Patrick’s life at a memorial to be announced at a later date, In lieu of flowers, the family requests Patrick’s memory to be honored with donations for a cancer research organization or contributions to a financial aid scholarship for a faculty student or student of military parents at Woodard Academy of College Park, Georgia.
