Dear F. John,
Re: JEmail: Vaccarino, Carmine (MC1957) opines
I believe that Mr. Vaccarino really meant to say “more conservative “drivel”. And it certainly was that!
His and other posts in this week’s JJ reminded me of a MAD magazine song parody from the late 50’s (1958, I think). It was titled something like “The Ballad of the John Birch Society” and it began with the lines, “Mine eyes have seen the horror of the coming of the Reds; They are hiding in our closets and beneath our beds…”
I tried a few quick Google searches and couldn’t find the whole lyric.
In any event red baiting was a scare tactic back then and this whole “the government is taking over everything” and “death panels” are its modern day successors.

[JR: None are so blind as those that can't see. The gooferment is, by any measure, larger each administration. And, if it does take a larger role in "health care" or "health care insurance", then it will be in the rationing decision which will kill people. As a rapidly aging Jasper, I'd like the gooferment to work on the VA, Indian, and Medicare. When it gets that right, it can do the rest. But it does make for an interesting weekly newsletter.]
