The Owl has flown! James Edward Havens, of Surprise, peacefully left this earth on Saturday October 24; he had suffered a heart attack and was cared for in his final days at Banner Health-Del Webb Memorial Hospital and at Hospice of Arizona. He had just celebrated his 75th birthday on October 1st. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth in 2003. A graduate of Manhattan College, before his retirement Jim had been an executive at Grey Advertising in New York City for over thirty years. He leaves his much adored family: his younger brother, John; sister-in-law Lillian; stepdaughters Maryam and Rafia; grandson, Nathan and son-in-law, Bill Paul; nephews John Jr. and James; and grandnephews and niece, all of the New York-New Jersey area. Memorials may be sent to either Hospice of Arizona or Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Published in The Arizona Republic on November 1, 2009
