BLOOMSBURG, PA. (04/29/2009)(readMedia)– Bloomsburg, Pa. native and Iraq War veteran Brig. Gen. Paul Genereux successfully completes more than three years command of the New York Army National Guard’s 42nd Infantry Division this Sunday in a change of command ceremony at Camp Smith, near Peekskill, N.Y.

Genereux transfers command on Sunday, May 3 of the Army National Guard’s 42nd Infantry Division, based in Troy, N.Y. with Soldiers across New York State and associated units across five states.

Genereux led the division during its reorganization following the unit’s return from Iraq in 2006, provided leadership, guidance and resources to the division’s training with the U.S. Army Central Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt in 2007 and the mobilization and deployment of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and 50th Brigade Combat Team divisional elements for combat actions overseas in 2008.

Brigadier General Genereux will become the Deputy Commander of the New York Army National Guard. He will be responsible for the training, mobilization readiness and domestic preparedness of more than 10,500 Army National Guard Citizen Soldiers across New York State.

Genereux resides in Bloomsburg, Penn. with his wife Rosalie and is the Director of Construction for Torcon Incorporated, Redbank, N.J.

Genereux graduated from Manhattan College in 1972 with a degree in Civil Engineering, and entered military service in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in October of that year. After five years enlisted service, he was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Army Reserve in February 1978. Genereux was first assigned as the Operations Officer for the 300th Civil Affairs Group in Riverdale, Maryland.
