PRAYERSREQUESTED: There a traffic jam at the colon!

… for abdominal XRays and they noted that she has a large backlog of stool in her colon. Part of her colon is dilated. This explains the pain in her side, but I was told that a backlog of stool should not in and of itself cause fevers.

The plan, for now, is to push drinking, give tylenol, give Miralax, and wait to see what the test results and tomorrow brings.

[JR: Need all those sanitary injuneer prayers now. Worked last time. I hate to think of any child in pain. Other pray-ers fill in as needed.]

Aliann Pompey: ‘Balancing track and school has ensured my success’

By Stabroek staff | November 21, 2009 in Sports

Guyanese track star Aliann Pompey has been on the international circuit since 2000 and although she has not yet agreed to participate in the London Olympics she remains committed to representing Guyana at other imminent meets.

SS: “Tell us about your academic achievements and how you managed both academics and sports?”

AP: “I finished my Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a minor in Communication in 1999. Four years later I finished my MBA (Masters in Business Administration) at Manhattan College, the same place I got my undergrad. While in college, balancing track with schoolwork was something I had to do. I knew I couldn’t stay in track if my grades were not good.

“To be honest, I never thought I’d be doing track after I graduated, so I spent a lot of time on my school activities. However, it didn’t take too long for me to develop a routine that was very efficient and ensured that I got the important things done. It takes a lot of self-control and sacrificing. Today, when I talk to the younger student-athletes, I tell them to think of the things they want to attain at the end of this journey. If it’s big enough and important enough, they will find a way to do what they need to do to get there.”

Dear John,

Aliann was inducted into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame a few weeks ago. She is a very impressive young lady and a loyal Jasper.

[JR: Thanks, Mike, for reminding me. Impressive to be in a HOF so young. Always glad to hear the background.]

John,

Bill Bryk, if I remember properly (we both lived on DeLaSalle 4 for a couple of years), is not a Brooklyn native. He’s originally from upstate.

[JR: Easily possible. But if elected, I'm sure he'll move out. ROFL! To the District of Corruption. As disconnected at the oligarchy there is, I'm sure no one would notice. But, I trust, like our fellow alums, he would resist temptation. And start cleaning up the place.]

THE 505 WALKING TOUR OF NYC
A 12 hour tour (or longer), where “516 the boy, became 212… an older boy”.
$15.00…no children under the age of reason allowed.

*** begin quote ***

This extensive tour of the Bronx and Manhattan features a panorama of what life was like in NYC between 1973 through 1977 when a young 505 matriculated at Manhattan College (and held some non-“government sponsored bullshit jobs” to get himself through school).

The tour begins once a week at 242nd St and Broadway (the terminus of the #1 Subway Train) on the campus of Manhattan College. We’ll initially follow the route that 505 and his future roommate/lifelong buddy took on their first day of college. A short stroll from the main campus to nearby Van Cortlandt Park. While the rest of the freshman class were attending welcome seminars and speeches, 505 and his friend spent the day golfing in the Park. (paid for 9 holes, played 18). “So this is college”.

Following a bucket of balls at the range, we’ll head back to 242nd Street and Broadway for a kickoff cocktail at each of the bars that sat underneath the elevated subway platform. Special “beer and schnappes” prices have been negotiated with The Green Leaf, The Pinewood and The Terminal Bar (or whatever their names are now). As my new roommate had declared so often, “My final selection of a college to attend was based upon how many bars were in walking distance.”

[JR: And on and on rambling at length.]

[JR: I found it, but still don’t know who wrote it or if it’s a Jasper. Opinions?]
