How did you know Betty? I am being nosy as I thought I’d have many more years to “know” her. I miss her so much. Her last week was tough and I think the only Blessing is that she is in Peace. I, and other members of her family, are still in shock. I think it must be harder for those who had no chance to know or see how sick she was. I am sorry for your loss. Take care, Donna Clarke
Dear Ms. Clarke:
Thanks for your message. I didn’t know your Aunt Betty personally. But I am always saddened by the obit of my fellow alums. By way of explanation, I collect news for a weekly e-zine about Manhattan College alumni for them. It’s a labor of love that depends upon automated searches for about 6,000 readers. Obits are one source of stories that I collect. As I said, I notify the Alumni Office and report to my readers the obit with links to the Guest Book. Subsequently, one of our fellow alums reported her class year as 1975. Hopefully, some other alums may have left comments in the Guest Book. Although, I have to report many aren’t comfortable with the technology. As a ’68-er, I found the obit striking a little too close to my year. I’ll take the liberty of posting your comment in the ezine so any classmate can reach you directly. Again, I’m sorry for your loss. And, even more sorry, that we have lost one of our fellow alums.
Respectfully,
fjohn68
I’ve known Betty for 7 years, we were close, in fact she was my only confidant. I knew Betty as a high schooler at Plainfield High, her and I became close there and since then she had been an extremely important person in my life. I often visited her in New York and Rhode Island, she came to my college graduation, and sent me flowers and cards every birthday without fail. I’ve been trying to reach her as the last time we spoke was in October, I just found out the news when I tried calling her again and her phone was disconnected. I cannot tell you how much she will be missed in my life, and I am hoping to find out here where she is buried. Please, if anyone has any information please email me at melissa.camacho@ymail.com or leave a post here.
