James J. Condon

Mystic – James J. Condon, 72, died peacefully on Feb. 21, 2010, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

He was born in New York City on Dec. 10, 1937, the son of Joseph Condon and Rose (Nertney) Condon.

James graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and Manhattan College in 1959, with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering.

He was employed by the Electric Boat division of General Dynamics for thirty-six years, in Deep Submergence Engineering, notably involved in development of the Nuclear Powered Research Vessel NR-1.

James was a proud to be a founding member of the Mystic Highlands Pipe band. He played bagpipes and drums.

He is survived by his nieces, Nancy O’Connor, Kathleen Barnes, and Sheila Lyons.

His sister, Rose Ellen Barnes, died in 1994.

His family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010, at St. Patrick Church with interment following at Elm Grove Cemetery.
