John “Jack” M. Horan passed away on July 25, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born in New York, NY on August 17, 1934 to Thomas and Alice (Gibbons) Horan. Jack grew up in the Bronx moving to Rockland in 1962. He was a graduate of Manhattan College working in the banking industry for over forty years. He retired as a Regional Vice President for the Bank of New York in 1997.
He was an active member of the Nanuet FD, The Pearl River Elks, Rockland County Shields, St. Anthony’s Holy Name Society, Nanuet Lions Club, American Legion Post New City, Clarkstown Senior Citizens West Nyack #1, and the TTAA (Town Tavern Athletic Association).
Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary, sons Edward and wife Tracey, Kevin and wife Patricia, daughters Cathy and husband Jeff Simon, Jeanne and husband Joe McCarney, and Eileen and husband Timothy Sheldon, grandchildren Amanda, Brad, Morgan, Trevor, Madison, R Declan Gerard, and Cassidy, and brother Thomas Horan.
In Lieu of flowers donation can be made to United Hospice of Rockland 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956. Family will receive friends on Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Higgins Funeral Home New City, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday 10:15AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church W. Nyack, NY. Interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery Nanuet, NY. MICHAEL J. HIGGINS FS 321 S.
