JNEWS: Strand, Vibeke [MC????] Medical Advisory Board at Salugen

http://lifestyletom.com/path/rao10925687330ros/roin59012239450

Salugen Establishes a Renowned Medical Advisory Board

Salugen, Inc. (www.salugen.com), a leading personalized healthcare company, announced today the expansion of its Medical Advisory Board.

“We are honored to have such well-respected physicians and researchers join our Medical Advisory Board,” says CEO Brian Meshkin. “With their guidance and involvement in our commitment to further the research of genetic and nutritional influences on health conditions, I am very optimistic about the scientific contributions we can make to the field of nutrigenomics.”

Salugen continues to expand its Medical Advisory Board of leading physician researchers across various specialities. Members of Salugen’s Medical Advisory Board include so far:

Daniel Furst, M.D., UCLA School of Medicine
Vibeke Strand, M.D., Stanford University School of Medicine
Michelle Pietzak, M.D., University of Southern California School of Medicine
Georges Halpern, M.D., Ph.D., Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Eric Braverman, M.D., Path Medical Foundation, New York City

{Extraneous Deleted}

Dr. Vibeke Strand, an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Division of Immunology and Rheumatology at Stanford University School of Medicine states, “Having worked with Brian Meshkin for several years, I am interested in working with Salugen to evaluate the role genes play on commonly used nutritional and dietary supplements, such as Vitamin D and calcium.”

Dr. Strand has been a clinical rheumatologist for 25 years. Her professional interests include development of clinical trial methodology, planning regulatory strategy and clinical studies leading to approval of new agents for treatment of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Dr. Strand has worked with Salugen management over the past several years on the pharmacogenomics of an anti-folate therapy, methotrexate. Her focus is to help translate basic research into clinical trials, evaluate results of these randomized controlled trials and defend successful clinical development at the FDA.

Her commitment to promoting forums for the discussion of rational product development among industry, FDA and academia led to her establishment and co-chairing of the biyearly “Innovative Therapies in Autoimmune Disease” meetings (1988-2005), organizing committee membership of the international Outcomes in Rheumatology Clinical Trials (OMERACT 1-7) consensus conferences (1992-2004), and co-chairing of OMERACT 7 in 2004. She has been invited to speak at FDA Arthritis Advisory Committee meetings discussing Guidance Documents for RA, OA, SLE, JRA, radiographic analyses in RA and pain (1996 – 2003). She has authored over 100 articles, 25 chapters, co-edited several books and multiple proceedings. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (1982), a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (1986), serves on the editorial board of several rheumatology journals, and is a member of the Cosmos Club (1994).

“I am very excited about Salugen. I have long suspected that the celiac/IBD/autism population has an increased prevalence of food allergies and sensitivities over the general population. And I look forward to participating in research involving the genetics of nutrition and their contribution to these disease states. I know many willing parents and patients who want answers to these kinds of questions. I am honored to serve on this medical advisory board,” says Michelle Pietzak, M.D., an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine.

She received her Bachelors in Biology at Manhattan College in the Bronx, and did her medical school training at SUNY Buffalo. She did both her residency and fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She is boarded in both Pediatrics and Gastroenterology and practices as a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. In her practice she cares primarily for children with autoimmune inflammatory bowel diseases (such as celiac disease, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), short bowel syndrome, and those who have special nutritional needs requiring either intravenous nutrition or special formulas. She has written several book chapters and scientific articles, both peer-reviewed and in the lay press, on these topics.

Since 1995, she has been the director of the Center for Celiac Research-West, and has been a co-author on numerous papers and abstracts describing the prevalence of celiac disease in the United States, California and Los Angeles. Dr. Pietzak is also the recipient of numerous 00004000 grants, including from the NIH, to study autoimmune intestinal diseases, as well as the interactions of E. coli bacteria and the gastrointestinal tract.

The PATH Foundation also has been intensely involved in the development of both clinic-use and at-home therapies dedicated to improving the health of the brain. Dr. Braverman has conducted research with renowned scientists in the field of brain research including Rodolfo Llinas, M.D., Ph.D., who developed an in vitro brain model, Ernest Noble, M.D., Ph.D. and Kenneth Blum, PhD who made breakthroughs in the genetics of alcoholism research and the electrophysiology of addictive behavior, as well as Nora Volkow, M.D. who was recently appointed head the National Institute of Drug Abuse.

JBLOGGER: Stagnaro, Melissa [MC1997], school board meetings, and a response

Stagnaro, Melissa [MC1997]

*** begin quote ***

Some days it feels hard to believe I’ve been at this desk typing away for two years. On others, the number the calendar provides feels like a far too conservative estimate. It feels like decades, for example, if I’m recovering from a string of school board meetings.

School board meetings. *Groan.*

Attending these meetings is something of a necessary evil for me. I have no idea how many I’ve gone to in the last 24 months, although I feel safe to say it is more than any human should have to endure in a lifetime – unless they are elected to do so, of course. But important stories come out of them, so I have to be there in order to do my job to the best of my ability.

If my job was a spaghetti western a la Clint Eastwood, school board meetings would be the Bad AND the Ugly. But luckily there is the Good to balance it out.

*** end quote ***

Reporting the school board meetings may be the most essential form of writing that you do.

These people are supposedly educating other people’s children. You have to distill the facts so those other people, the taxpayers, and the voters (which may be three separate and distinct populations of people) understand who to hold accountable for the results.

(Personally, I’ll try to convince you of the absolute EVIL of Gooferment education. The purpose of the current Gooferment education system, modeled after the Prussian system in the late 1800s, is to create: cannon fodder from the Army, willing workers for the factory, and dumb voters capable of being led by the elite. It’s racist, sexist, immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. Why do people turn over their children, their legacy, to be brainwashed? And, why do taxpayers pay for it since they don’t pay to feed, clothe, house, or even have these children? Finally, why do voters allow the Gooferment to dumb down and propagandize future voters while creating the evil Teacher’s Union to further distort the politics?)

So, you have an important role in exposing schools boards for what they are. Even if you don’t believe my rant, just reporting on it — fairly, honestly, and completely — will show you and your readers the truth about this “giant mistake”.

It may be the MOST important thing you report on.

“If the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan wanted to sabotage black academic excellence, he could not find a more effective means to do so than the government school system in most cities.” — Walter Williams

“An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it.” — Mohandas Gandhi

“I don’t think we’ll get rid of schools any time soon, certainly not in my lifetime, but if we’re going to change what’s rapidly becoming a disaster of ignorance, we need to realize that the school institution “schools” very well, though it does not “educate”; that’s inherent in the design of the thing. It’s not the fault of bad teachers or too little money spent. It’s just impossible for education and schooling ever to be the same thing.” – John Taylor Gatto

Please go to those school board meetings with a vision of you freeing future generations from prison. That’s where we have consigned them to.

MFOUND: Sir Reverend Paul Lachlan Peck has MC connection

http://paulpeck.blogspot.com/2010/07/complete-bio.html

*** begin quote ***

Please note: Paul will be taking a leave of absence from his spiritual healing work as of June 1, 2010 for a much needed rest, and to continue with the writing and editing of his books. Since 1949, for more than 50-years, Paul has been doing spiritual healing metaphysical work, along with laying-on-of-hands in His Name. When he was 8 years of age, he had his calling: “Ye that believeth on me, the works that I do, will ye do also; and greater works than these shall ye do because I go unto my Father.” Paul’s answer was immediate, sincere, and permanent. “Yes, I choose to follow you!” Along with this experience came many years of preparation, which included class teaching in Christian Science, a good background in the King James Version of the Holy Bible, and wonderful experiences in the Episcopal, Methodist, and Christian Science churches. He has written several books that might interest you. They appear to the right of this column. Please click on each book to see summary, reviews and Table of Contents. All the books are available for purchase at Amazon or your local bookstore.

*** and ***

Sir Reverend Paul Lachlan Peck is widely known as an author and minister. He spent many years at family counseling, conducting interdenominational services from coast to coast, lecturing and writing. He was the Founder and Pastor of Arete’ Truth Center, an Interdenominational church.

Prior to entering the full-time ministry, Reverend Peck served as a Vice President of Syracuse University, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Manhattan College (Bronx) over a period of fifteen years. While at Syracuse he served as a director and trustee of The University Hill Corporation, having to do with the planning and development of that section of the city. When at Fairleigh Dickinson he started the first ever charitable giving program with the use of credit cards. He holds a BA. Degree in Marketing from the University of Connecticut, a M.Ed. degree in high school administration from Westfield State College, Westfield, MA and a Th.D. (Hon) from Bernadean University, NV. He was ordained by Truth Center of California in 1972. While at Syracuse he served on the Chaplains’ Council of the University, and as a volunteer Chaplain at Auburn State Prison for one year.

ADMINISTRIVIA: Yahoo Group still slow

FWIW (for what it is worth) last night I posted the weekly ezine in the Yahoo Group about midnight.

It did not acknowledge it until 4AM. As of 0830 this morning, it has not emailed it out. Nor posted it on the message board.

Hey, you get what you pay for, it’s a free service. That enables me to keep Jasper Jottings free. If everyone would like to pay a subscription fee, we could use something like “constant contact” for the email. That’s an annual bill of 400$/year. Breaks the budget of this unemployable retired fat old white guy injineer.

This week’s issue is available on the Jasper Jottings website (http://www.jasperjottings.com/) and the weekly blog (http://jasperjottings-weekly.com/).

I’d suggest that we just wait for Yahoo to get it’s act together. But, I’m at everyone’s direction on this matter.

Those that like JJ with their Sunday morning coffee will have to get it from the web aot to having it in their email box.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

# # # # #

Update @ 1430 Yahoo is still “constipated”. To deploy a “constant contact” email solution, 50 Jaspers of the 700 reading would have to send in $7.20. Or, one Jasper to kick in 360$. Assuming that I got checks, I could hold until I have fifty. If the effort fails, I shred them. If it suceeds, I can discontinue Yahoo and move to “Constant Contact”. I await your feedback.

# # # # #

Update @ 2100 Yahoo still the same. I put the issue in again. Now probably two will go out? Argh!

# # # # #

Update @ 2245 Yahoo sent out one issue. Now we have to see if there is a duplicate sent.

ENDNOTE: And the Catholic hospitals.

http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=6842

Sale of Boston Catholic hospitals could end Catholic identity, director concedes
July 02, 2010

*** begin quote ***

At a public hearing on the sale of Caritas Christi, the health-care system of the Boston archdiocese, the director of the 6-hospital system admitted that he could not guarantee the continuation of the institution’s Catholic identity after the transfer. James Karam argued in favor of the sale, to the Cerberus capital firm, because he said the only alternative would be closing the hospitals.

*** end quote ***

In last week’s ENDNOTE, I pointed out to you that “Gooferment Skrules” kill Catholic Schools. Even in the Gooferment’s tentative move to “Charter Schools”, hated-by-the-Left as an adulteration and attack on the traditional Gooferment Skrules, is or has the side effect of killing Catholic Schools.

(Couldn’t possibly be the intention of the politicians and bureaucrats to introduce “Charter Schools” to kill Catholic Schools and, after the job is done, kill “Charter Schools” forcing everyone into Gooferment Skrules. Which is what they wanted in the first place. No, it must be just a coincidence. P.S.: I have a bridge to sell you. Swamp land? A can’t lose investment that pays 42% annual interest? ARGH!)

This week, I’ll again point to the “War on Faith — Hospitals’ Section”. Just a coincidence that the Catholic Hospitals have to go out of business and be magically transformed into Gooferment Hospitals. (Think they will be doing abortions there?)

And, you say there’s no Gooferment pogrom to destroy the Religious Right, the Catholic Church, and all its good works?

When they are marching Catholics and other religious people to the reeducation death camps, then maybe you’ll see the assault for what it is. Gooferment at its worst. Oppressing and killing its citizens and people under its dominion.

But I’m the tin foil hat!

So how do you explain it?

# – # – #

A pogrom is a form of violent riot, a mob attack, either approved or condoned by government or military authorities, directed against a particular group, whether ethnic, religious, or other, and characterized by killings and destruction of their homes, businesses, and religious centers, property. The term was originally used to denote extensive violence against Jews in the Russian Empire
