Now MC again gave out “lifetime” email addresses. And, I know the good folks who did it. BUTT (there’s always a big but) you should ALWAYS own your own email address. You might trust MC, but they might be sold out to SUNY by the Gooferment. (Yeah, I know my tin foil hat is on too tight.)
Note this is different than buying email service from say Yahoo. At Yahoo, you become FriendOfBrotherJasper @ yahoo dot com, that’s the same problem as FriendOfBrotherJasper @ Your ISP dot com.
You need to OWN the part after the @!
And, I don’t particularly care what you call yourself. Or who handles your mail. Go buy FriendOfBrotherJasper dot whatever. Then use Google to handle the mail or the Service Provider. http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=9113251 but there are many other domain registrars. Mine is just the one I recommend.
(Disclaimer: If you use that link and sign up, I probably get a dime of your something a lot less than 20 bucks. This monumental inducement has not prejudiced my recommendation. But there some new FTC rule about blog payola so there I’ve disclosed this tremendous conflict of interest. Argh! Gooferment diktats!)
That name FriendOfBrotherJasper dot whatever is yours for as long as you pay the annual ten buck registration fee.
And it will never change.
