JEMAIL: O’Connell, Bill (MC1976) cites private charity helped Bob Cratchit

Note to Don Stebbins. At the end of the Christmas Carol movie what was the name of the government program that helped the Cratchits out? Oh wait, it was faith and private charity. Now I feel better and can continue fighting against the grow in government in 2011 with a clear conscience, promoting faith and charity. Render unto Caesar…

[JR: LOL! Now don't tease the "Secular Progressive" big-Gooferment fellow alumni. Besides there are a lot clergy who have mixed up "economics" as well. Just a year or two ago, I was in a tift with with Brother President about "Social Justice" and the minimum wage. Of course, I felt that a minimum wage of zero was appropriate; he didn't. I just had to defer to his position and my usual ATDA ("agree to disagree agreeably"). His parting shot was "Can't believe that MC could graduate a Engineer without charity". Argh! So putting someone on the dole is "more charitable" than empowering them to solve their own problems. Imagine a world without theft by Gooferment (i.e., confiscatory taxes) and it's hard to imagine that we'd have "Starving Poverty". People might be "poor", but not hurting. Sigh! Maybe next year.]
