Thanks for coming up with a copy of RFK’s speech. I graduated in 1962 but I have to admit, I don’t remember any of the speech (of course it was almost 49 years ago. I do remember that I thought it was a big deal that the Attorney General of the US (and the President’s brother) was giving the address. It was pouring rain that day, so the commencement was indoors. But there was not enough room in one building for all of the graduates and I was not in the building that RFK delivered the address but heard it on speakers. In reviewing the speech, it was not a great presentation. It wondered around without any central theme. But I have to give him credit (or his staff) for reading the history of the college and referring to a number of incidents . The 159 page document that he alluded to was history of the college that was published in 1953 which was the 100 anniversary of its founding. I received a copy as an incoming freshmen but I certainly did not read the whole thing.

Would you please pass my e-mail info along to Rev. Paul Peck. I remember good times at Birch Cottage – I lived in Ives and then St. Joseph’s Halls my final two years at MC. We kept in touch for some time after MC but then lost touch. I would very much like to be back in touch.
