Natori spent her 35 years in the lingerie business but now is pushing over another line of clothing collection. Natori played with layers, no-cleavage design but still you can discern the curves.

“I’m always in that East-West mood…I was thinking Indochine and all its colors. I’ve been to Vietnam a couple of times, and I’ve always liked the aesthetic there. Something about the mix of the French influence—it’s sexy.”

After graduation, she joined Bache Securities, then was transferred to its Manila branch as the company’s sole broker. JOBIT: Barkey, Allen [MC1952 RIP]

http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/nytimes/obituary.aspx?n=allen-barkey&pid=153842383

Allen Barkey
1929 – 2011

Allen Barkey died on September 24, 2011 on Longboat Key, Florida, where he resided with his beloved wife Henrietta.

Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Allen emigrated to the United States at the ag of 17, settling in New York City with his parents Isaac and Caroline and sister Viviane. An alumnus of the Lycée Saint Michel, a graduate of Manhattan College and a U.S. Army veteran, Allen spent most of his career in international trade. Together with Henrietta, he ran Barkey Importing Company, which, notably, introduced Turkish apricots to the U.S. market.

Allen was the proud and loving father of two boys, whom he raised with Henrietta, the light of his life, in New Rochelle, NY. And he delighted in the hugs of his two young granddaughters, who called him “Papa”.

Fluent in five languages, Allen was a traveler, a raconteur and a loyal friend to many. He was also an opera buff, an avid reader of history and a life-long student. Swimming in the ocean was his favorite outdoor pastime, and he continued to ride his three-wheel recumbent until his last days.

Survived by his wife of 48 years, Henrietta, his sister Viviane, his sons Jonathan and David, his daughter-in-law Lauren, and his granddaughters Cara and Chloe, he will be forever missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont, NY, Tuesday September, 27 at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Paul Corballis obituary
Laura Corballis
The Guardian, Saturday 24 September 2011

*** begin quote ***

Paul Corballis was the model for the Jolly Butcher pub sign, in Staines, Middlesex.

My father, Paul Corballis, who has died aged 77, was an American anglophile who ran a travel agency in the US specialising in the “Great British pub crawl”. He was in his element as a tour leader – he explored London with an eye for the odd and the obscure, working up an offbeat tour of the city for visiting friends long before making it his work. He was at one with Samuel Johnson’s sentiment that a man tired of London must be tired of life.

Paul certainly never tired of the British pub and kept a record of every one he ever had a pint in. His lifetime total was nearly 3,000 – a daunting achievement, given that return visits didn’t count. As each 1,000 mark approached, he touted the opportunity for a party and publicity around all the breweries, and chose the one that sounded most fun. In 1988, he published Pub Signs, a record of his photographic skills. He had become friends with the sign painter George Mackenney, and modelled as the Jolly Butcher for the eponymous pub in Staines.
