[JR: It does link to the box score and a press release from MC on the loss. This just struck me as a new way to "mail it in". How many people would click on those strange links? "HN464" or "HO464". And what's 464?]

JTWITTER: MC’s “cold calling” turn off

[JR: Demonstrating what results from MC's "cold calling" does. Instant turn off. Ignores the first principle of networking imho "First, seek to help; then, be helped." Argh! While this isn't strictly speaking "news", I think it is "report-able". Besides it looks like a quiet day "news-wise". At least no obits. That's a blessing.]

Pope Pius XII personally saved Jews from Holocaust, researcher believes
November 04, 2011

*** begin quote ***

An American Jewish researcher has uncovered evidence that Pope Pius XII went under cover on personal missions to save Jews from the Holocaust.

Gary Krupp of the Pave the Way Foundation cites a letter from a Jewish man who escaped from the ghetto in Rome and was taken into the Vatican for safety. Much later, upon meeting Pope Pius XII, the man recognized the Pontiff as the man who had—dressed as a simple Franciscan friar—escorted him into the Vatican.

[JR: I’ve read the diatribes in the “Secular Progressive” media that slams various Popes. Those type of stories get huge headlines; this nothing. One has to imagine that the truth will come out eventually. One would like to believe that even if the Devil became Pope that the Office would change him into a saint. For my part, I keep reflecting “Judge not; lest …” since I doubt I’d have that kind of courage. And, when I pray, I ask for small challenges in keeping with my modest abilities. However I know my fellow alums are up to the big ones. Donna Nobis Pacem ]

ENDNOTE: Hard money is good for the poor

http://takimag.com/article/truth_charity/print#axzz1bvz5cjBe

Truth & Charity
by Thomas E. Woods Jr.
August 07, 2009

*** begin quote ***

The system we have now involves a government-privileged central bank with a monopoly on the creation of legal-tender money, charged with watching over a cartel of ostensibly private but also state-privileged commercial banks. Its debasement of money makes it very difficult for people to save for the future without having to become speculators of one kind or another. A hard-money system, on the other hand, permitted the average person to save for the future simply by accumulating precious-metal coins, which, back in the days when they served as money, held or increased their value over time. Who today would save for the future by piling up Federal Reserve Notes? Society’s most vulnerable now must enter the stock market or take other kinds of risks just to hold on to their wealth. Is this not a moral issue?

*** end quote ***

Papal infallibility, I was taught at the Prep and MC, was limited to “matters of faith and morals”.

Here we have the Vatican, as it often does, speak on economics.

Normally, I’d snooze thru these. But, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve seen HOW the manipulation of money screws the little people.

The problem of “poverty”, like we see in Africa, is the corrupt governments. And, the “system” of foreign aid turns the poor into chattel slaves.

And, it just keeps getting worse and worse.
