CARTOON: Breen, Jerry (MC1971) “Poor Adolf”

201105140817.jpg

John: Here’s my latest cartoon. I thought a little comparison between Bin Laden and Hitler might be illuminating. {Privacy Invoked} Thanks again, Jerry Breen

[JR: Well, as usual, you are most entertaining, but like guys from up the hill, you ignore certain facts. (1) We ain't them bad old Ruskies, son, (2) WW2 was the LAST war Congress bothered to declare. (3) What happens when old BHO44 takes a particular dislike to a certain impertinent cartoonist and fat old white guy injineer with desire to see real birth certificates? (4) We have so much wrong with our country we need to go back to basic principles. Shooting unarmed sick old men in their undies still seems wrong to me. (5) And donning my tin foil hat, why did we try Saddam and so many others and yet not do the same to old OBL? Could he have secrets about the CIA that no one wanted coming to light? Did BHO44 need to distract "We, The Sheeple" from low unemployment, zero inflation, and inexpensive gas? (6) Maybe another cartoon is in order. LOL!]

CARTOON: Breen, Jerry (MC1971) the Navy Seals and OBL’s “rights”

John: Here’s a cartoon on the issue of whether the Navy Deals violated UBL’s “rights” by executing him on the spot. The fact is that spies, saboteurs and terrorists have no rights. Period. It’s a myth that people believe, like that ship captains can marry couples. It’s simply untrue. – Jerry Breen

[JR: Sigh. I'm a mixed emotions on this one. Killing is always ... wrong. As a little L libertarian, there are few cases where it is "justified". Pro-life pro-choice, you know. In this case, maybe it was justified. But "eye for an eye" ... ... You may have to put a "mad dog", but there's some steps that need to be observed along the way. I'm not sure that all those were done. Otherwise, what happens if the Gooferment, politicians, or bureaucrats decide that they don't like cartoonists or fat old white guy injineers?]

CARTOON: Breen, Jerry (MC1971) Trump’s weird comb-over

John: I just noticed that Donald Trump’s weird comb-over bears a remarkable resemblance to a certain cartoon character’s hair. I don’t know why I never noticed it before. – Jerry Breen

CARTOON: Breen, Jerry (MC1971) has two opinions for us

John: Here’s my latest political cartoon, as well as one from a few weeks ago. Thanks to some help from a fellow Jasper and very good friend, Bill Seebeck, I’ve been able to invest in some new computer equipment to replace my old dead eMac, so I’m able to operate once again. Sincerely, Jerry Breen Jasper ’71

CARTOON: The folly of big spending

John: Here’s my latest cartoon, suggested by a friend of mine, Michael Sazhin, who’s a parrot trainer in New Jersey. I think it’s a great illustration of the folly of big spending. Merry Christmas to you and your family! Sincerely, Jerry Breen

CARTOON: Breen, Jerry (MC1971) “Recovery Summer”

201009130655.jpg

John: Here’s my latest political cartoon, on the subject of Obama’s amazing economic success in this “Recovery Summer” (as the White House chose to call it). I guess it all depends on how you choose to look at it. Yours in Jasper, Jerry Breen ’71

CARTOON: Breen, Jerry (MC1971) Obama’s mysterious birth certificate

201009100003.jpg

John: Here’s my latest political cartoon, on the subject of Obama’s mysterious birth certificate. It refers, of course, to Cheech Marin’s 1980′s film, “Born in East L.A.” At the time, Reagan was President, and Cheech’s character knew the President was “that cowboy actor” but he named the wrong one. I’ll send more when i get some more ideas. Thanks again, Jerry Breen http://www.newbreen.com/caricatures.html

CARTOON: Breen, Jerry (MC1971) summarizes the Park 51 Project

201008260921.jpg

John: Here’s my latest political cartoon, on the subject of President Obama’s firm support for the “Ground Zero” Mosque in downtown Manhattan (that is, before he sort of qualified his support through a spokesman the very next day). I’d like to clear up a couple of misunderstandings on this issue. Supporters of the project claim that it’s not at Ground Zero and it’s not a mosque.

First of all, while the location is not part of the World Trade Center site, the present building on the site is one of the buildings damaged in the 9/11attack and subsequently condemned. I would say that puts it AT Ground Zero. Also, while the project’s promoter, Imam Feisal Rauf, tells American news media that it’s a community center with prayer space, but “not a mosque”, he repeatedly tells European and Middle Eastern news outlets that it IS a mosque.

Also, to grasp the significance of the location, you have to look at where conquering Muslims throughout history built their mosques. In Jerusalem, they built the Dome of the Rock smack dab in the middle of Temple Mount, the location of the Jewish Temple. In Egypt, they also built mosques on the site of old Egyptian temples. In Constantinople (now Istanbul), they seized the world’s largest Christian Church and turned it into a mosque.

The significance of the proposed mosque’s location would be understood by anyone in the Muslim world. Its purpose is not to promote interfaith ecumenical understanding. It’s clearly intended as a celebration of the success of the 9/11 attack on America.

[JR: Have to agree that you hit the nail on the head. As a little L libertarian, I think we better wise up. It's a dangerous world out there, and wishing isn't going to make it any less so! We have to be like Switzerland when it comes to foreign policy -- MYOB and like the old USSR or the Mafia on defense -- you mess with me, I break your legs. Argh!]

CARTOON: Ever wonder why … …

cartoon.obamass.sf

John: I haven’t sent you any political cartoons in a while, but here’s a new one. I’ve done a number of caricatures over the years depicting politicians as animals. I’ve made Richard Nixon into a cocker spaniel, Fred Thompson into an elephant and Gerald Ford into a gorilla (King Kong). Now it’s Obama’s turn. This kind of sums up the state of Obama’s presidency, in my view. I was afraid that Obama (with his skimpy resume and naive views on world affairs) might be the “Second Coming” of Jimmy Carter. It looks like that’s exactly what he’s turning out to be. At least he hasn’t given a “National Malaise” speech yet. (In case you’ve forgotten, it was the nadir of Carter’s presidency, and the most embarrassing speech ever given by an American President.) But there’s still time. And I’m sure his fan Chris Matthews (who wrote the original speech for Carter) will gladly write a new one for him. – Jerry Breen ’71
