[JR: I pray for a great outcome.]

Dear John,

As my brother Ed mentioned to you, I will be going into the Hospital for a long over due new hip on Tuesday. As a result I will be “off line” for a while. Ed has “volunteered” to fill in for me while I am unavailable, to supply you with the Class years that are missing from your finds.

So, if you send him the “stuff” that I usually get he will try to get you the info.

Say a Prayer and I will get back on line as soon as I can.

   Best,

   Mike

McEneney, Mike (MC1953)

[JR: Of course, I'm rooting for you to come out the other end of the process better for it. Maybe they can do the eyes on the same trip. LOL! I'm sure Ed is thrilled filling in on the thankless task.

PRAYERREQUESTED: Gallaher, Peter (MC1965) needs some prayers for his granddaughter

From: Peter Gallaher (MC1965)
Date: April 1, 2010 6:18:30 PM EDT

Our granddaughter, Julia aged 16, was taken to the hospital by ambulance yesterday, Lowell General, and from there to Children’s Hospital in Boston.

She spent the day and night in intractable pain. Finally there has come some relief and our daughter, Jeanne, tells us that she is resting, and eating her first solid food in two days.

There have been issues with unfeeling and obstinate residents and such like, too.

Neurologists assigned to her have so far been puzzled. She is scheduled for a brain and spinal MRI tomorrow, and will undergo a series of examinations and tests by GI specialists.

Of your kindness please say a prayer that there will come some diagnosis and plan going forward.

It was brought home to me as I waited that there is that part of being a grandparent which is especially painful, waiting on the sidelines and praying and worrying about two generations of your loves ones.

[JR: Wish this was just an April Fool's joke. Suffering, any loved one's suffering, is gut wrenching. Especially when there's really nothing you can do about it. We, here on Jottings, have the best pray-ers. We had so much practice during exams in certain subjects. Good thoughts in her direction.]

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Phil [MC1962] reports a tragic death in Tom McNeil’s (’04) family

Dear John,

Phil Colon, ‘62 sent this e-mail this evening. I do not have the McNeil’s girls first name, but will get it in the morning.

   May She Rest In Peace.

   Mike

McEneney, Mike (MC1953)

[JR: Thanks, Mike, Phil, and Mike. Much appreciated. Sad news.]

*** begin quote ***

Good Evening All,

Mike Brady,’05 has shared some tragic news with us this evening. Tom McNeil’s (’04) Sister was killed last night when a taxi hit she and her brother sometime after the Parade. Tom’s Sister was a junior at Manhattan College and very proud to be a Jasper. Tom’s older Brother is in hospital in critical condition. St. Patrick’s Day has always been an important day to Tom’s family. They marched in the parade each year and organized an after the Parade party for the New York Court Officers. This is a terrible thing to mark what was always a joyous day in their lives. Please keep Tom, His Sister and Brother, and their family in your prayers. We pray for the repose of the soul of Tom’s Sister and for the full and quick recovery of Tom’s Brother.

Thank you. God Bless.

Phil Colon

[JR: Will pass along more info as received. A terrible result to a happy day.]

According to detectives cab driver Allen Sinetar, 55, of Wading River, was traveling eastbound in his 2000 Chevy when, just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, he struck three pedestrians crossing the intersection of Central Avenue.

Kate McNeil was transported to South Nassau Hospital where she was pronounced dead by staff, said police.

Bryan McNeil, 25, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

Samantha Koch, 20, suffered head, neck and back injuries and was listed in stable condition.

[JR: From the initial reports, it just sounds like a terrible traffic accident. As some one who HAS accidentally hit some one that wasn’t hurt, I feel terrible for all involved including the driver. Truly worth a “prayer request” to all Jaspers.]

*** begin quote ***

After more than two years, {Privacy Invoked} is FINALLY finished with chemotherapy treatments!! We pray that she is finished with them forever!! HOORAY!!

*** end quote ***

[JR: Nice to have a happy ending. I pray, as should you, that this is the end of this trouble.]

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Child sees a positive result on the horizon

“The leukemia team told us definitively that {Privacy Shield Invoked}’s last day of chemo will be in early MARCH!!”

[JR: All hands, let's pray this child home!]

PRAYERREQUESTED: An update about that child

Update about the daughter of a pair of alums

*** begin quote ***

Thank you, as always, for continuing to check in on our darling girl and for all the prayers – we really do appreciate them. And thank you for the support you continue to bestow upon our family.

*** end quote ***

[JR: Things seem to be going better for one little girl. Continue praying is OK. :-) Nice to hear the good news.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: There a traffic jam at the colon!

*** begin quote ***

… for abdominal XRays and they noted that she has a large backlog of stool in her colon. Part of her colon is dilated. This explains the pain in her side, but I was told that a backlog of stool should not in and of itself cause fevers.

*** and ***

The plan, for now, is to push drinking, give tylenol, give Miralax, and wait to see what the test results and tomorrow brings.

*** end quote ***

[JR: Need all those sanitary injuneer prayers now. Worked last time. I hate to think of any child in pain. Other pray-ers fill in as needed.]

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Alum’s child is doing better

Saturday, November 21, 2009 11:06 PM, EST

Just a quick update to say that {Privacy Shield Invoked} is doing well and the fevers are all gone as of today. YAY! As always, thank you for your prayers. xoxoxoxox

[JR: Good news for Thanksgiving.]

PRAYERSREQUESTED: “We” have a fever and GI pain

(For those late to the “prayer party”, one of our fellow alums is Mom to a trio of delightful young children. The “oldest”, 10 ish who like bad jokes, is battling cancer.)

“fever this morning – 103.6 F” and “BAD stomach pain (crying involved) and we are not sure”

[JR: OK, my fellow Jaspers, do your thing. ChemEs pray for relief of the fever, Sanitary the tummy, and EE's pain in general. MEs and CEs and others give "high cover" and standby for specific assignments. Seriously, other than make silliness, what can be done. Can only imagine what Mom, our fellow alum, is going thru. "... I pray to the Lord ..."]

“Five”

[JR: Hey what do I know about kids agewise -- food in the north end and poop out the south end, change diapers until they turn 18 and go to college. End of problem? LOL! Can't do much other than pass the word along. "Remote" prayers might do some good.]

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Patron Saint of “exact counts”?

… was at the Day Hospital on Wednesday and her counts were right where they should be:

*** and ***

And after all the Marathon madness, I realized that I completely skipped over Halloween last entry, so I posted the photo of our “Super Girl”. … in was joined by Buzz Lightyear and Minnie Mouse. {Privacy Shield Invoked} was originally going to be Snow White again this year, by like any girl, decided to change her mind. ;) Call me biased here, but I think Super Girl was most appropriate.

# – # – #

[JR: Counts were they should be. Who the patron saint of exact measurements? I'm sure Brother Austin Barry taught me that, but for the life of me old age has robbed that factoid from me. Maybe there's a patron saint of "super girls" everywhere? Your prayers are requested for this child to keep doing well.]
