Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, considered by some to be one of the few pro-life Democrats in Congress, is defending his repeated votes for international abortion funding.

{Extraneous Deleted}

Or pretend to be deciding for people in other countries. It’s “genocide on the quiet”!

*** end quote ***

Dear John,

I believe the vote was a good one. However, I believe that people of good will can debate that point ON ITS MERITS and not by simply demonizing it as a vote to fund abortions – which it definitely was not. The vote allowed funding to go to organizations which offer abortion counseling among other services. Now you can certainly argue that this allows other money to be used for abortions etc – but you can’t make it sound like the vote was – up or down – shall we use taxpayer money to fund abortions in other countries. As our great Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan pointed out – everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own set of facts…

Thanks, as always for your much appreciated JJ work…

[JR: I took the liberty of pruning the endnote. And, I appreciate the response. Gets lonely here in the "VIRTUAL JASPER JOTTINGS NEWSROOM". That being said, I think we disagree. First, as a little L libertarian, I have to object to my money being used to fund anything overseas. Second, one can not segment services offered saying a little genocide is OK. Third, since the D's are now back in control, we are going to have more of the "sacrament of abortion", we have to start fighting now on every "trivial" vote. On the merits, funding overseas imperialism even if it's supposed to be charity and any taint of immorality poisons the whole "pool". Philosophically, even if Casey wants to donate his OWN money to such a charity it calls into question his "catholic" credentials. (That's the thrust of the endnote.) Voting to use MY money does even more, imho. That's the facts. The vote WAS to use my taxes to offer abortions overseas. I find it reprehensible on so many levels, it makes me sputter. As you can tell. We'll have to agree to disagree agreeably on this one.]

MFound: Manhattan College faculty member for Pro-Abortion Obama Pick?

Catholic Professors Cheerleading for Pro-Abortion Obama Pick
3/3/2009 – 1:41 PM PST

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEDIA ADVISORY
Catholic PRWire

MANASSAS, VA (MARCH 3, 2009) – Half of the 26 Catholic activists, scholars and theologians who signed a statement publicly supporting President Barack Obama’s selection of pro-abortion Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services are professors employed by Catholic universities, The Cardinal Newman Society revealed today.

“These professors are giving comfort and aid to those whose stated goals are to advance policies directly opposed to Catholic teachings on life issues, and they do it under the guise of fidelity to Jesus Christ,” said Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society.

“Lauding pro-abortion Catholics such as Gov. Sebelius is an entirely individual action that does not necessarily reflect on their Catholic employers, but it does highlight the problem of Catholic universities being used as platforms for pro-abortion politics. Moreover, it speaks to the need for careful faculty hiring that considers the moral judgment and example of professors.”

The pro-Sebelius open statement, organized by the pro-Obama group Catholics United, cites Sebelius’ “successful efforts at reducing abortion.” Sebelius has said that she personally believes abortion is wrong.

However, Kathleen Sebelius vetoed pro-life legislation on four separate occasions as governor of Kansas. After she vetoed the pro-life Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act in April 2008, Bishop Joseph Naumann told the Los Angeles Times that she “should stop receiving Communion until she publicly repudiates her support of abortion.”

According to Robert Novak in a May 2008 article entitled “A Vice President for Abortion”, Sebelius was “allied with the aggressive Kansas branch of Planned Parenthood in a bitter struggle with anti-abortion activist District Attorney Phill Kline. There is substantial evidence she has been involved in laundering abortion industry money for distribution to Kansas Democrats. Kansas is the fiercest state battleground for abortion wars, making Kathleen Sebelius the national pro-choice poster girl.” Novak also writes, “In May 2007, Sebelius was featured at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Kansas City, Mo.”

“Given Gov. Sebelius’s abortion record and the concerns of her own bishop, it is sad that some of her strongest supporters are speaking out from their platforms on Catholic campuses,” noted Reilly.

This is especially true given the important Catholic values that may very well come under assault by the Obama Administration. For instance, in an article published on the website of First Things, papal biographer George Weigel noted that the next Secretary of HHS will shape key policy on a number of questions:

“Will conscience-rights protection for pro-life physicians and health-care workers be sustained, amended, or eliminated? Will over-the-counter abortifacients in the guise of ‘Plan B’ contraceptives be available to minors without a doctor’s prescription or counsel? Will the government continue to sanction the sale and use of RU-486, the ‘abortion pill’ that has killed seven women since the Clinton administration rammed its approval through the Food and Drug Administration shortly before leaving office?”

Catholic scholars who signed the statement, with their Catholic university affiliations, include:

Dear John,

Those DOWGs weren’t too good on the rights of women and non-whites – so I wouldn’t be too sure what they thought about the unborn.

But I think we should support a totally libertarian view – that the government should stay totally out of what a woman does with her body.

[JR: Well, they had their struggles as well. The slavery compromise was made to preserve the "union" against England. Personally, I'm surprised that the idealist Jefferson nor the pragmatist Ben Franklin didn't come up with the "slave buy out" idea. The rest of the world "figured out" slavery without a devastating "civil" war. So the DOWGs were pretty smart, but not infallible. They didn't have the concept of killing unborn children; thus, no idea what they would have thought. Depending if we could come to a national consensus on when life begins, then the government might have some small role in preserving the rights of its littlest citizens. We are so far from that point it's almost inconceivable. (But, an important principle!) The gooferment has totally screwed up education (condemning children to poverty) and foster care (condemning children to abuse). Instead of telling women and their doctors what to do, it should be working on unwinding their involvement in our lives. Instead, they are, like a parasite, worming in further. Argh! Yes, I trust women with these tough decisions more than any gooferment bureaucrat! I just shake my head. And, I don't want to pay for what I view as an immoral behavior (i.e., killing children)! I can’t say as I am surprised. We have so many CINO politicians in the District of Corruption. And, the campaign didn’t expose the new President as a supporter of infanticide. So why should we me surprised when he appoints a pro-abortion HHS.

No wonder it was announced on a Saturday to slip it in under the radar!

When do we vote and argue for the principle of Life? Sorry, but Rush Limbaugh is correct when he says “we can not check our principles at the door”.

This appointment doesn’t surprise me. It saddens me. The congress critters, politicians, and bureaucrats are going to make things worse in so many different areas at the same time.

President Barack Obama Names Pro-Abortion Kathleen Sebelius Health Secretary
by Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com Editor
February 28, 2009

*** begin quote ***

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Strongly pro-abortion Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has accepted President Barack Obama’s request to serve as the Health Secretary. Sebelius has one of the most radical pro-abortion record of any elected official and a longstanding relationship with a late-term abortion practitioner.

White House officials told the New York Times as late as February 18 that Sebelius had emerged as Obama’s leading choice for the position. Then, this week, they acknowledged that her pro-abortion record could cause problems for her nomination.

Obama’s decision to allow word of his selection to lead ot the media first on a Saturday is designed to play down news coverage of his selection of a hardcore abortion advocate to lead his health care reform efforts and to implement his pro-abortion agenda.

POSITRACTION: Pennsylvania Most Pro-Life State in America

Pennsylvania Most Pro-Life State in America, California Least, According to AUL State Rankings
Source: Americans United for Life

*** begin quote ***

Americans United for Life (AUL) today released its sixth annual ranking of the most and least pro-life states. Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and South Dakota top the ranking, while California, Hawaii, and Vermont ranked lowest.

“AUL’s annual ranking highlights the significant progress we are making each year toward a more pro-life America,” said Dr. Charmaine Yoest, AUL President & CEO. “There is every reason for optimism even in the face of new challenges. Since the election, we have seen a huge outpouring of grassroots support for our work opposing the radically pro-abortion Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) as well as hundreds of inquiries about life-affirming legislation.”

While AUL’s criteria covers states’ treatment of all life issues, final rankings depend largely on each state’s enactment of prudent and well-supported laws. Such laws fence in the abortion license granted by the U.S. Supreme Court in its 1973 decision, Roe v. Wade. Among the laws AUL looks for are informed consent, parental involvement for minors, medically-supported regulation of abortion providers, and limitations on the use of taxpayer dollars for abortion.

JEmail: Reinke, F. John (MC1968) recommends the NBC and CNN rejected commercial

As you know, I’m always wishing that my challenges be little ones. To match my minimal skills and abilities. Maybe I’ve found one?

Now these folks have come up with a “killer commercial”. IT guys always talk about the “killer app” that just revolutionizes the industry, like Apple’s Visicalc or Lotus’ Spreadsheet. Here’s a challenge that I’ve embraced. I put this on my FACEBOOK profile. That will get the idea in front of a lot of people. Maybe they might even watch. Maybe they will “defriend” me! Even say bad things about me. (Like that’s going to bother me!) That’s a chance I’ll take. I’ll put it on my blog, “Reinke Faces Life”. I’ll plant the flag and let people brand me as a reactionary kook. (Actually, I think “Classical Liberal” might be more accurate. All those Theology and Philosophy courses that MC made the injineers take may have finally sunk in.)

We, as a society, using the guns of gooferment force, may have allowed ourselves to kill the future.

Abortion is the genocide of our society’s future. When you’re in a hole, it’s a good idea to stop digging.

I found this video to communicate the possibilities at a visceral level. The mainstream media has an agenda; I’m not surprised they surpressed it. It might make the sheeple (people who are sheep) think. And as George Orwell pointed out that’s dangerous to the elite.

The suppressed commercial is here http://www.catholicvote.com/; it links to YouTube.

Take 45 seconds and see if it doesn’t move you to think.

(Don’t care WHAT you think. Just that you do THINK. The media doesn’t want you doing any of that dangerous stuff! ROFL!

I signed up for Catholic Vote despite not being a saint. I urge you to do the same.

Here’s their response:

Thank you for signing up to let your friends and family know about our efforts to take back our families, our schools, our courts, and our culture. Together at CatholicVote.org, we are building a movement of people to stand strong to defend life, faith, and family.

Sounds pretty good to me.

But I’m just an injineer!

Abortion: The Unspoken Jihad
By Matt Spivey

*** begin quote ***

In Arabic, the word “jihad” means “inner struggle,” and for those involved in one particular battle, there is no simple answer and varying perspectives cause, in many cases, violent reactions and repercussions. That word has come to signify the murder of innocence and the demolition of security in a time of worldwide uncertainty. The death toll keeps rising as years keep passing, and fighting in this war guarantees earning the label of “radical,” “extremist,” or “fanatic.” Yet those who do keep fighting are actually trying to save lives. With the 36th year of Roe v. Wade passing today, the war rages on.

*** and ***

Are conservatives really extremists or fanatics by believing all children should be respected in life and raised in love? Maybe some like Sarah Palin are genuine leaders who will guide not only those closest to them, but all Americans, to do what is right, even when it is difficult. January 22 is a dark day for those who believe in God’s gift of life, but maybe the jihad against the unborn can be prevented if facts are made clear, derogatory words are attributed to rightful perpetrators, and we all take more personal responsibility. I don’t think that’s too extreme.

ENDNOTE: Catholic Church has made no exception regarding abortion!

Catholic Church has made no exception regarding abortion since ancient times

October 26, 2008

Most Rev. W. Francis Malooly, bishop, Catholic Diocese of Wilmington

*** begin quote ***

In his interview with The News Journal published Oct. 19, Sen. Joe Biden presents a seriously erroneous picture of Catholic teaching on abortion. He said, “I know that my church has wrestled with this for 2,000 years,” and claimed repeatedly that the Church has a nuanced view of the subject that leaves a great deal of room for uncertainty and debate.

This is simply incorrect. The teaching of the Church is clear and not open to debate. Abortion is a grave sin because it is the wrongful taking of an innocent human life. The Church received the tradition opposing abortion from Judaism. In the Greco-Roman world, early Christians were identifiable by their rejection of the common practices of abortion and infanticide.

*** and ***

This Sunday, all the parishes in the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington will pray the Litany of St. Thomas More, martyr and patron saint of statesmen, politicians and lawyers. We will ask St. Thomas More to intercede so all statesmen and politicians may be courageous and effective in their defense and promotion of the sanctity of human life. We hope Sen. Biden will carefully listen to the Church’s 2,000 years of testimony on abortion and that he will join in the defense and promotion of the sanctity of life.

Obama’s other Big Lie in the Debate
Laura Dykstra

*** begin quote ***

When he was a state senator Barack Obama voted three times against the Illinois Born-Alive Infants Protection Act (IBAIPA).

*** and ***

Here is a little off teleprompter quote from Obama during that senate debate on what he really thought about a helpless newborn baby: He stuttered:

<Begin Quoting Illinois State Senator Obama>

“nonviable fetus; that if that fetus, or child — however way you want to describe it”… “let’s say, movement or some indication that, in fact, they’re not just coming out limp and dead.”

<End Quoting Illinois State Senator Obama>

As a state senator, Obama voted three times to deny newborn infants a fighting chance at life. There is no other way to honestly describe this portion of Obama’s record: These were votes for infanticide.

*** end quote ***

Now, you all know that I’m a little L libertarian. I have no dog in this POTUS2008 fight. Both of them are big gooferment socialists who want to rule our lives.
I live in New Jersey. Year after year, I pick the lesser of two evils. In fact, I could really go vote for “Pete Rabbit”, “Peter Piper”, or any other imaginary Peter and have as much effect. The Graveyard vote in Hudson and Camden ensure that the Democrat will win this state. I’ve begun to listen to the Anarchists who say voting only encourages the Socialists. Those opinions may be right.
As a soft of “good Brother’s boy”, I was instructed that it was my moral duty, under pain of sin, to listen attentively to the debates, politicians, choose wisely, and go vote. (Not so sure of that admonition any more. But those Brothers were mean mo … were combat vets from WW2 and Korea and had a strong impression on me.)
This year, when listening to the third debate, I heard this politician look right at the camera and lie! Ok, maybe “lie” is too strong, only God knows what was in his heart at the time. But, I heard a “spin” that made me think of Clinton prevaricate, obscure, and parse the word “is”.
I felt like I was smacked in the face.
I’ve blogged about and reported to you here about the ‘infanticide bill” in Illinois a while ago. That’s how O was on my radar before he became “presidential” material. I know that he voted for this horrific bill. Not even his usual “present” to avoid taking a stand!
In my heart, I know that “abortion” is a tragedy on so many levels. In following the issue, it’s possible for people to hold varying opinions in good conscience. I try never to argue about it. Arguing hardens. Calm discussion allows people to find their own way to His Truth. I’m not so sure I’m exactly right. And, I have so many other flaws, I’m the last one to me lecturing anyone. I’m sure I don’t want the gooferment telling anyone anything. I firmly believe that people will do the right thing if left to their own devices. If something is a “good idea”, it should be EASY to convince everyone to do it. I’m a voluntarist!
In this case, I’d like someone to explain this one to me. Because it leaves me clueless!
In WW2, we heard about eugenics, death camps, and atrocities. The Holocaust, or Shoah, had the infamous Doctor Josef Mengele, German doctor and also an infamous Nazi war criminal, also known as the “Angel of Death”. Certainly, this infanticide legislation rises to that standard! I find this to be a MORAL outrage. Hence, I suggest that it is proper to rebuke publicly vocally and vociferously any one who had a hand in this one.
It goes to what values they hold in the heart!
So with an apology to those that urge “non participation” as a strike for liberty, I’ll go an rebuke this politician at the voting booth. I hope everyone follows their conscience as well. When the Final Judgement comes, with a clear conscience, I will be able to say that when I saw evil, I was a good American and did not stand idly by. I did wht I could. I hope all my fellow Jaspers can say the same.
Vote Life. Vote Small Government. Vote your conscience.
