She discounted the administration’s view that the president’s plan would cut health care costs, saying the only path to lower costs was less treatment. “And who will suffer the most when they ration care?” she wrote. “The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”

Sorry for the D’s. And even sorrier for the Catholics In Name Only in congress like Ted Kennedy who support abortion.

Talk about a culture of death, end of life counseling and expansion of abortion are both in the bill. I know I’ve read parts of what have been provided.

It’s hard to imagine that America has fallen this far into Socialism and the culture of the Secular Progressives.

When “they”, the supposed liberals, took over education, they won the war. They get to brainwash everyone.

Luckily Catholics, and those of us who went to Catholic school, may not have drunk their “Kool Aid”.

Murder is wrong.

It’s always wrong. And, must always be opposed.

When do we stand up for our beliefs? When they are loading us up into the railroad cars?

To traditional Christians, God is the author of life, and innocent life, be it of the unborn or terminally ill, may not be taken. Heroic means to keep the dying alive are not necessary, but to advance a natural death by assisting a suicide or euthanasia is a violation of God’s commandment, Thou shalt not kill.

*** and ***

In Weimar, Germany, two professors published “The Permission to Destroy Life Unworthy of Life,” which advocated assisted suicide for the terminally ill and “empty shells of human beings.” Hitler’s Third Reich, marrying Social Darwinism to Aryan racial supremacy, carried the concepts to their logical if horrible conclusion.

[JR: It's hard to imagine government run "healthcare" with abortion and euthanasia. But, it will have it. And, we will be paying for it with our taxes. Personally, will the Church -- it's leadership and laity -- have the "stones" to on the day it is passed to do TWO things: (1) close ALL Catholic hospitals (i.e., shut them down and don't sell the facilities to the government; just leave them idle); AND (2) call on all Catholics and like minded souls to engage in civil disobedience. THe civil rights movement demonstrated how to do it. Do Catholics have the moral courage and intestinal fortitude to stand up for their beliefs?]

Police say LA teen tried to get money before death
Jul 28, 12:08 AM (ET)

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The last hours of Lily Burk’s life were spent trying to get money for a kidnapper who finally beat the 17-year-old to death and left her body in her car in a downtown parking lot, police said Monday.

Burk was found dead Saturday in her black Volvo. A 50-year-old parolee, Charlie Samuel, was booked Sunday for investigation of murder after fingerprints in the car linked him to the killing, Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz said at a news conference.

We know not the day, nor the hour.

All we can hope is that this teen has returned to the Creator’s House of Many Mansions.

When one looks at a horror, you have to look for the good in the Plan.

Hard to see.

But we should learn that actions have consequences. When dangerous men are allowed to roam, bad things will happen.

While we have no right to kill our fellow man, we have a right to hold people accountable for their actions.

Why don’t we do that?

Let’s start today.

ENDNOTE: Pretending not to know when life begins

Thoughts from an ex-fetus
George Jonas, National Post Published: Wednesday, June 03, 2009

*** begin quote ***

Living in an epoch that is selfish as well as matriarchal, our lifeboats are no longer marked “women and children first,” only “women first.” We invent euphemisms, such as “choice” for killing, and sophomoric dilemmas, such as pretending not to know when life begins, to ensure that nothing hinders Virginia’s quest for Santa Claus. No obstacle must interfere with her goal of self-fulfillment — least of all an issue (as it were) of her healthy sexual appetite.

*** end quote ***

Yup, we have a society that is killing its babies. I can’t envision a more contra-survival behavior. As a little L libertarian, I instinctively distrust the gooferment to have any role in what must be an intensely personal and troubling decision. That being said, we have to, as a society, deicide a better way. Clearly, the right to life begins when the fetus aka baby can survive on their own. We have mastered technology to push that point back further and further. Add to that the problem of who pays for what. And, you have a mess. We need to sort it out. FAST!

Principle #1: Life is sacred. Principle #2: Women have rights. Principle #3: The gooferment is the worst venue to decide this since it only has one size fits all solutions.

Want to keep your wallet? Carry a baby picture
Hannah Devlin

*** begin quote ***

When faced with the photograph of the baby people were far more likely to send the wallet back, the study found. In fact, only one in ten were hard-hearted enough not to do so. With no picture to tug at the emotions, just one in seven were sent back.

According to Dr Wiseman the result reflects a compassionate instinct towards vulnerable infants that people have evolved to ensure the survival of future generations. “The baby kicked off a caring feeling in people, which is not surprising from an evolutionary perspective,” he said.

Scientists argue that it would be difficult to genetically code for feeling empathy exclusively towards your own child and much easier to code for feeling empathy towards all children. If you find a baby alone, there is a good chance it belongs to you, making it an effective evolutionary trait, said Dr Wiseman.

42% return rate for the planted wallets.

Humm, what would I do?

I’d like to think that I’d be honest and go out of my way to help. But I know I’m a sinner!

Interesting that there is something in our “hardware” or “software” that empathizes with babies.

Finding one alone, fat chance. The gals are usually all over “the baby”. I think the “wiring issue” is more obvious with them.

May all your challenges be as big as you need. I’ll take my “small”; thank you, very much.

[JR: The "Catholic" brand has been damaged by the priestly pedophilia and pro-abortion politician scandal. I'm no saint, but I'm insulted by these two "bad examples". The leaders of the Church have to reassert control of their "brand". Otherwise, they fail. At the very least, they have to apply the whip to those who give public scandal. The Amish shun; Catholics, and those kindred spirits, have to do the same. Remember that on voting day!]

Congressional Lawmakers Admit NIH Guidelines a Human Cloning Bait and Switch
by Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com Editor
April 20, 2009

*** begin quote ***

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Congressional lawmakers appear to be admitting that a leading pro-life group was right when it said the new NIH guidelines to implement President Barack Obama’s embryonic stem cell research executive order amounted to a bait and switch.

The NIH guidelines describe the process that scientists must use to get federal funding to be able to destroy human embryos supposedly left over from fertility clinics for their stem cells for research.

The National Right to Life Committee called the guidelines a “bait-and-switch” strategy, under which Democratic leaders in Congress will suddenly bring up new legislation that they will claim codifies the NIH action.

In reality, NRLC says the bill will overturn a federal law prohibiting the specific creation and destruction, possibly through human cloning, of human beings for the express purpose of killing them to conduct scientific experiments.

According to a report in Congressional Quarterly on Friday, Kristofer Eisenla, a representative of Rep. Diana, one of the prime sponsors of the bill that concerns Right to Life, “did not refute the committee’s suggestion.”

“Details of the legislation are still being discussed,” he said.

In fact, DeGette, in a press release issued with her co-sponsor, Rep. Michael Castle, responding to the new NIH guidelines, talked about how her bill would supposedly merely codify the NIH guidelines. She said she is “planning to move forward with legislation that will promote all forms of ethical stem cell research.”

Although the bill hasn’t been written, Douglas Johnson, the legislative director for National Right to Life, told LifeNews.com the intent appears clear.

“It doesn’t take much reading between the lines to see that DeGette and Castle are writing a bill that will authorize NIH to funding human cloning to produce embryos for research,” he said.

Johnson previously discussed the Obama-DeGette tactic with LifeNews.com.

“Some may characterize the guidelines issued today as narrowly crafted, since NIH will not initially fund research involving human embryos who were created specifically to be used in research. This seeming restraint is part of an incremental strategy intended to desensitize the public to the concept of killing human embryos for research purposes,” he explained.

He says the DeGette bill will go much further by “authori[zing] further expansions involving the deliberate creation of human embryos for use in research, by human cloning and other methods.”

The National Right to Life Committee detailed the strategy in a letter it sent to members of Congress in March outlining its objections to the DeGette bill and its Senate companion version.

Paramedics turned away in Richardson accident: official

*** begin quote ***

A potentially life-saving ambulance was dispatched to the ski hill where actress Natasha Richardson suffered a critical fall on Monday, but the emergency workers were turned away and told they weren’t needed, a paramedic says.

*** end quote ***

The folly of man. We think we know more than we do.

In this case, we’ll never know. But one can easily see in our collective mind’s eye: a relatively quick ride to the hospital, an MRI, possibly a burr hole in the skull, maybe surgery, some drugs, and few days later she walks out to the rest of her life.

Maybe, maybe not.

After Sonny Bono’s skiing accident, you’d have thought helmets would be a “fashion item”. I’m sure celebrities don’t want to be pictured with “helmet head”.

I hope all my fellow Jaspers wear helmets all the time.

It’ll help when the read my babblings and want to beat their heads against the wall.

Or if they go skiiing, bicycle riding, or drive anywhere today. Lot of nuts out there; not all wearing tin foil hats like me!

Hope this unnecessary death leads to common sense wisdom on the ski slopes.

Hope this doesn’t lead to more dumb laws. People have to be free to make mistakes. Even fatal ones.

Right to Life? Only if you value it. And, protect it. Starting with your own.

March 9, 1945: Burning the Heart Out of the Enemy from Wired Top Stories by Tony Long

*** begin quote ***

1945: In the single deadliest air raid of World War II, 330 American B-29s rain incendiary bombs on Tokyo, touching off a firestorm that kills upwards of 100,000 people, burns a quarter of the city to the ground, and leaves a million homeless.

*** and ***

Tokyo immediately burst into flames. The combination of incendiaries, the way they were dropped, windy weather conditions and lack of coordinated firefighting on the ground resulted in a firestorm similar to what occurred two years previously in Hamburg, and only a month before in Dresden. Temperatures on the ground in Tokyo reached 1,800 degrees in some places.

The human carnage was appalling; bomber crews coming in near the tail end of the raid reported smelling the stench of charred human flesh as they passed over the burning capital.

*** and ***

The firebombing campaign, coupled with the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, are believed to have killed more than 1 million Japanese civilians between March and August of 1945.

[JR: My Dad, an XO on a LCI, got to Japan and saw some of the destruction. He didn't talk much about it, except if he had a large supply of adult refreshment. I can remember one "discussion" with an uncle who was a WW1 vet. Before I got shoved out, I remember him saying: "there's no excuse for murder. it wasn't war." Anytime, I read these descriptions I think of that personal testimony. And, as I wrote in my book: "How can one human being do this to another?" Sadly.]
