Who will replace State Senator Adriano Espaillat who in June won the Democratic congressional primary for congress? Today the Jordan Journal will interview one of the three candidates Marisol Alcantara. Alcantara is Democratic District leader in West Harlem She was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the U.S. at 12 where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Political Science from Manhattan College and went on to do graduate work in Urban Affairs at Queens College. Ms. Alcantara organized Latinos for the 2008 presidential election and worked as Campaign Manager to Elect City Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez. Marisol has also coordinated the SEIU’s Latino outreach efforts in Southern Florida. She currently works as a Union Organizer /Representative for the New York State Nurses Association and has also served as the national chapter coordinator for the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network. The other two candidates are former Councilman Robert Jackson and Micah Lasher former chief of staff of Attorney General Eric Scneiderman.
