William Albert Hartigan

NEW YORK CITY — William Albert Hartigan entered eternal life on December 16, 2016, at Cornell Presbyterian Hospital, New York City.

Born on July 18, 1930, in Albany, he was the eldest child of John A. and Harriet (Barnes) Hartigan. A resident of Manhattan for over fifty years, Bill, as everyone called him, graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1948, then Manhattan College and earned his master’s degree in ath and economics at Carnegie Tech. Bill was a long time employee employed by I.B.M. as corporate financial analyst.

Bill actively volunteered at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and many church organizations. His interests included the New York Library, museums, a sport enthusiast, and taking long daily walks. He was known for many academic achievements and for his faith, kind disposition, honesty, and generosity to charities.

Bill is survived by his brother, John (Jean) Hartigan and sister-in-law, Kathie (Poli) Hartigan; also by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Joan (Jerry) Dombrowski, and brother, Francis Hartigan. A special thanks to Patty Gylfe, for her many kindnesses to him.
