Dear Friends,

Happy New (Liturgical) Year!

Once again, the Church begins our new liturgical year with the first Sunday of Advent. No countdown, streamers, or champagne – but a simple candle on a wreath. The candle reminds us that, like the servants in Sunday’s Gospel, we are called during Advent to prepare ourselves for the coming of our Lord.

Therefore, echoing the words of Pope Francis, YOU ARE INVITED to join us by using our weekly Advent meditation guides. The first of these is below, to help you step away from the hectic world for a few minutes and focus on the love and peace that Jesus wants to share with you.

I hope that you find the following meditations helpful in your Advent journey toward the wonderful miracle that is Christmas. May God bless you with His grace during this holy season.

If you would like a more intensive prayer experience, you can click on the link at the bottom of the page to view a full personal retreat on our website. Please remember the Brothers in your prayers, and know that you are in their prayers also.

Live Jesus in our hearts.

First Week of Advent: You Are Invited!

Founder’s Voice: “How long has Jesus been knocking at the door of your heart waiting to enter?”

A Reading from the Gospel of Mark 13:33-37

Jesus said to his disciples:

“Be watchful! Be alert!

You do not know when the time will come.

It is like a man traveling abroad.

He leaves home and places his servants in charge,

each with his own work,

and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.

Watch, therefore;

you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming,

whether in the evening, or at midnight,

or at cockcrow, or in the morning.

May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.

What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!’”
