PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Tom McCarthy’s dad

2018-Jan-17

Good Evening All,

Tom McCarthy asks for our continued prayers for his Dad. We need to raise the volume for this good man as be prepares for some intensive and delicate surgery tommorow, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at New York Presbyterian/Columbia Hospital. Tom Senior has been in our prayers since he began treahtment of a specialized nature combining a mix of Chemo and immunotherapies. During his first two weeks of treatment, he had some ups and downs, not responding well. He had a drastic drop in his platelets and white blood cells. Further treatment was postponed and he was kept in hospital for a few days to monitor him, provide transfusions Nd reduce the risk if infection. He rebounded and the Family were happy to hear that his tumor was reduced in size considerably while everything was going on, The tumor went from 8 CM TO 5 CM wide. The Doctors have decided that the best course of treatment is surgery. A more detailed byopsy of Big Tom’s Lymph Nodes to make sure that there is no Cancer anywhere else was performed showing no further signs of Cancer, praise God, clearing him for surgery tomorrow. Due to the original size of the tumor and being against the Chest Wall and subsequent scarring from treatment, the operation is likely to be fairly radical perhaps requiring some reconstruction. That will be decided after the surgery. We pray that reconstructive surgery will be minimal so that recovery is not an extended period. It is estimated at 5 to 14 days depending upon what is entailed. We pray for Mr. McCarthy, for Mrs. McCarthy, for Tom and his Sister, for the Doctors and Caregivers as we ask God to guide the hands of the Surgeons and for a successful procedure and smooth recovery. The Family thank each of you for your continued prayers and thoughts. Please raise the volume for this good Man. Thank you. God Bless.

Colon, Philip J. (MC1962)
