Many of you know but some may not….14 years ago my mom was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) Her doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) told her she could live a long time with this type of leukemia. I would say 3 years after being diagnosed she went through 9 months of chemo and she tolerated it pretty well. The chemo set her levels back and she was doing fairly well until May of 2016 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her leukemia levels were very high so they tried to toggle the chemo to treat both cancers and she couldn’t handle it. The doctors, nurses and staff at MSKCC were nothing short of fabulous. The research that is being done in the hospital is incredible. In the next month our niece will be joining the staff as a nurse in the NYC hospital. Katherine Juliano- they are lucky to have you and you will be a great addition for them. When i was asked to join this team I thought this was a no brainer…. any help to increase their research funding is something I am interested in helping with. (and I also love to spin!)
I will be riding in the Cycle for Survival event on February 3, 2018 to help raise funds to fight rare cancer, and I would like any support you can give. Approximately 50% of people with cancer are fighting a rare cancer, and too often have limited or no treatment options. With your help, we can ensure the discovery of new and better treatments. Thanks for your support.
