William D. Tobin Sr.
Airmont – William D. Tobin Sr. of Airmont, NY passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on January 27, 2018. William was born in the Bronx, NY, October 2, 1925. He was the son of Irish parents William and Mary Tobin and brother of John Tobin. He married Diane Y. Butler on June 2, 1948. His greatest joy in life was his four children, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
William graduated from Manhattan College with a Master’s degree. He was a WWII veteran with tour of duty in the Navy aboard the S.S. San Francisco. He lived most of his life in Rockland County, NY. William was a school teacher in the Nanuet school system for 20 years. He loved to make people smile. William was ordained at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 1979 and spent the next 25 years serving the parish of St. Margaret’s in Pearl River, NY as its Deacon. He spent his life in service to his community notably to the church, Summit Park Hospital and residential visits to the infirm. William lived his life following the Deacon’s credo “to serve”. His spiritual guidance resides in everyone who met him.
Services and interment were private. Arrangements entrusted to Scarr Funeral Home, Suffern, NY.
