JFACEBOOK: Breen, Jerry (MC1971) has a warning about depression and toxins

So sad to hear of the suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. Both bright, talented people. To an outsider, they would seem to have charmed lives. As a survivor of depression myself (50 years ago), I know that it has nothing to do with the circumstances in your life (although the disease itself makes you think that). It’s an imbalance in your brain chemistry that can have many causes. In my own case, I figured out more than 30 years later that I had turpentine poisoning caused by the oil paints I used in college. After college, I switched to acrylic paints, because I hated the smell of turpentine on my hands. This saved my life. I keep telling my painter friends to abandon toxic oil paints and use acrylics, but they never take my advice.
