Shannon, Sara [MC2010]
Assistant Principal & Teacher at Santa Maria School
Greater New York City Area
During my thirteen years in Education, I have been fortunate to experience a variety of roles that have helped foster my skills as a hands-on learning leader. From the classroom to the front office, I have been awarded the opportunity to work with students, families, and teachers who have challenged me and given me the impetus to lead with care.
Serving my school in various capacities has strengthened my interpersonal and organizational skills. I effectively communicate with the school community through teaching, strategic planning, scheduling, and site organization. My roles as high school counselor and admissions director have afforded me the opportunity to help students find their next school, a place where they can feel challenged, inspired and loved. My knowledge and experience in Catholic elementary and high schools has greatly influenced my interest in upholding a school’s Catholic identity through the student body and its interaction with the community’s stakeholders.
My leadership ability, my effective communication skills, and my desire to collaborate have aided me in being a successful administrator and teacher.
