Local Farm Project Names New Executive Director

Poughkeepsie, NY – Poughkeepsie Farm Project’s Board of Directors has named Ray Armater as the new Executive Director to lead the organization. Diane von Roesgen, Board President, made the announcement today.

Poughkeepsie Farm Project’s (PFP) Executive Director, Armater will be responsible for supervising all programs and operations, including developing and overseeing its strategic plans and fundraising goals. He will also work to further cultivate relationships with Poughkeepsie area institutions like the Poughkeepsie City School District with whom PFP entered a five-year partnership in 2017 to provide after school programming in all of its elementary schools, middle school and high school.

Armater will also focus on broadening support for the Farm Project’s activities, including the Food Share program which annually donates over 40,000 pounds of produce to emergency food providers in the city of Poughkeepsie as well as looking at ways PFP can
increase its impact.

Armater is a long-time Poughkeepsie resident and originally hails from Kingston, NY. He has over 20 years experience working as an Executive Director in historic preservation organizations in the Hudson Valley. Armater’s formal education is in history and government, with a B.A. from Manhattan College.
