OBITUARY
Catherine V. Baker
July 8, 1932 – March 25, 2019

We cherish our memory of Catherine Veronica (Guldner) Baker who passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at her home at Sunrise of New City. Born in Bronx, NY to Margaret (McKenna) and John Conrad Guldner, she attended St. Barnabas High School, and in 2011 she was inducted into the St. Barnabas High School’s Hall of Fame. She attended Hunter College and worked at Springs Mills in Manhattan until her marriage to Richard G. Baker in 1954, six days after he returned from service in Korea. Their strong faith and love for each other, as well as their devotion to serving others formed the foundation for all who were blessed to know them during their 61 years of marriage.

Cathy leaves a legacy of love with her children: Richard of Spring Lake, NJ, Theresa (Mark) Ferretti of Spring Lake, NJ, Mary (Jim) Kelly of Tomkins Cove, NY, Peggy Baker of Bardonia, NY and Stephen (Jackie) Baker of Mahwah, NJ. She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Kathleen her husband, Richard and her siblings, Bob and Ruth. She is survived by her brothers John (Carole) Guldner, Thomas (Donna) Guldner, and sister Fran (Tom) Crammer.

Catherine was beloved Nana to 10 grandchildren, Mark, Kathleen, Michael, James, Laura, Daniel, Matthew, Robert, John, and McKenna, their spouses and 5 great grandchildren, Madeline, Gabriella, Noah, McCall, and Henry.

A meeting with Mother Theresa of Calcutta, now Saint Theresa in the fall of 1975, forever inspired her devotion and tireless work as founder/director and member of the Board of Directors of Birthright of Rockland County. She ultimately served as the New York State Regional Consultant for Birthright International. Cathy touched the lives of many through her faith filled service and contagious smile. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birthright of Rockland County in Nanuet, NY. (birthright.org/Nanuet).

Visiting hours will be held at Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY on Thursday March 28, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9. A Funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, NY.
