Obituary for Jennifer Harding McGeown

Jennifer Harding McGeown – Devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, lost her long battle with cancer on May 5, 2019.

Jennifer was one tough nut to crack and she gave the cancer and everyone else around her a run for their money. It provided her the opportunity to remove her pain in the ass and her colon. She grew up in Roslyn Heights, attending St. Mary’s and the Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Syosset. Jen was an excellent athlete, organizer and volunteer, skills she brought to Manhattan College, where she played softball. Her career took her into educational, care and athletic based settings, when she landed at Pierce Country Day as a devoted employee.

Jennifer appreciated the support and kindness given to her by the Pierce Family. What Jennifer loved the most was family. At the top of the list were her girls, Emma and Maureen. Jennifer provided them with love, encouragement and an example of bravery and courage to carry them through life.

She was a devoted daughter to T. Peter and the late Patricia and a sister who could always be counted on for a good wisecrack to Maura Clow (Harry), Ted (Jenny), Tim (Jeanine) and Meaghan Tuttle (Ryan). Jennifer loved her many aunts and uncles and cousins, and could always be counted on to “bring the weenies” and take pictures to make sure everyone would remember our times together. Jennifer was a loyal friend and will be missed by many.

Visitation Wednesday 4:00-9:00PM at Roslyn Heights Funeral Home 75 Mineola Ave. Roslyn Heights, NY. Funeral Mass Thursday 10:00AM at St. Mary’s RC Church Roslyn Harbor, NY. Private cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Our Lady of Mercy Academy, 815 Convent Road, Syosset, NY 11791. Donations are designated for tuition assistance. Checks should be made out to Our Lady of Mercy Academy.
