BFS Capital, a leader in small business lending, today announced the appointment of Fred Kauber as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer. As a member of the management team reporting to CEO Mark Ruddock, Kauber will be responsible for leading a customer-focused product and technology organization whose mission is to help BFS re-imagine financial services for small businesses.

Kauber brings more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry and has a strong track record of leadership in technology, product management, marketing and operations. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Marketing Officer at CAIS Group, a fintech marketplace platform, where he led platform development and corporate marketing initiatives.

Prior to CAIS Group, Kauber was CTO at TRANZACT, where he launched autoinsurance.com and directhealth.com, both joint ventures with Walmart, and helped facilitate TRANZACT’s acquisition by White Mountain in 2014. He has also held C-level and senior leadership roles at Fortune 500 firms and entrepreneurial ventures in the financial services and technology industry, including Entitle Direct Group, First Data Corporation, Dun & Bradstreet and IBM Corporation. Kauber also teaches enterprise technology strategy as an adjunct professor in the graduate program of the NYU School of Professional Studies and mentors aspiring technology leaders and entrepreneurs in the NYU Future Labs and Columbia University Technology Management programs.

GREENE – James E. of Levittown departed on May 20, 2019 at the age of 87.

Beloved husband of the late Barbara A. Greene; loving father of Kevin, Timothy (Amy), Susan Castellano, Kathleen Wilson (Dean) & Patricia Pasqueralle (Chris); cherished grandfather of Lindsay (Chris) the late Karalyn, Rebecca (Justin), James, Grace, Christopher (Ashley), Marissa, the late Kevin, Scott, Toniann, and Deanna; adored Great-Grandfather (“GGPa”) of Kellan, Ethan, and Ava; dear nephew of George Boecklin and the late Margaret “Sis;” and admired uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Amongst the countless accomplishments in James’ full life are a Bachelor’s Degree from Manhattan College, a Master’s Degree from Columbia Teachers’ College, US Army Corporal, minor league baseball player in the Boston Red Sox organization, dedicated Physical Education teacher in the Great Neck school district, and longtime basketball, baseball, and soccer coach. James was a basketball official at the high school and college levels and a member of the IAABO Board 41, who bestows their annual high school sportsmanship award in James’ name.

Friends may call Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 PM at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, 47 Jerusalem Avenue, Hicksville. Mass Friday 10 AM at Holy Family RC Church. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.

Bronxville – Gerard “Jerry” K. Devine, of Bronxville, passed away on May 22, 2019.

Beloved husband of Mary Devine. Loving father of Kerry (Todd Rosenthal) and Colin (Monika Zarzeczna), devoted grandfather of Eliza and Dean and dear brother of Hugh Devine.

Born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Jerry was a graduate of Xaverian High School and later Manhattan College. After proudly serving in the US Army from 1969-1971, Jerry had a long career with Metropolitan Life as an investment analyst and later with D.C. Ranieri Insurance Agency.

What he cherished most in life was spending time with family and friends, cooking and sharing a good meal, music, dancing, wine and laughter.

Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 2 to 6 pm Monday. Mass of Christian Burial, St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, on Tuesday May 28 at 10:45 am.

Tom is by her side and she is not expected to recover. Please keep Margaret, Tom and their Family in your Prayers. We pray of course for her recovery, but we pray too for Margaret to be at peace.
