MFOUND: How is the Computer Science and Physics department?

How is the Computer Science and Physics department in Manhattan College? (self.ManhattanCollege)

Hello /r/ManhattanCollege!

I was recently accepted into Pace University, but also waiting to hear back from Manhattan College (decisions come out next week). I’m interested in pursuing a major in Computer Science and a minor in Physics.

My question is: How is the quality of education in these STEM areas at Manhattan College? Do students seem to enjoy the Physics and Computer Science programs at Manhattan College?

Also, an off-topic question, what is the entrepreneur/startup culture like at Manhattan College?

Physics overall is a tough class but people don’t seem to enjoy the teachers. The engineering programs are all really good though.

Manhattan also has a big business school so there are a lot of opportunities for people looking to make their own companies.

Physics is garbage. Comp Sci is pretty good.

Why is Physics garbage? The professors? Quality of teaching? Difficulty? Students? Tutoring?

(sorry to bombard with questions)

Good to hear CS is good though, I saw that the courses mainly work with Python! Pace University works with Java…

I disagree. A good friend of mine got a physics degree from MC and is now pursuing a masters/PhD from a competitive university. My roommate was computer science and the program was pretty rigorous, and everyone in her class ended up getting great jobs after college. I was a comm major so I cant speak to either, but my friends seem pretty pleased with the education they received.
