JOBIT: Garvey, Patrick J. [MC1957 RIP] 2019-Jul-00

Patrick J. Garvey
March 4, 1935 – July 2019
New York

Patrick was born on March 4, 1935 and passed away in July 2019.

Patrick was a resident of New York at the time of passing.

Pat Garvey attended Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, followed by Manhattan College, graduating from the business school in 1957, but not before meeting a certain Elizabeth Tierney of the Bronx at a Manhattan Tea Dance Social. Of all his many future noteworthy accomplishments, marrying the future Liz Garvey was by all accounts, his wisest decision.

After several years on active duty, he rose to the rank of Colonel in the Marines Corps Reserves before being promoted to Brigadier General in the New York State Naval Militia.

Good Morning All,

I have already sent this request to the Retreat Committee because the Retreat was where we mostly knew Pat. We pray for the repose of the soul of Fellow Jasper, Patrick J. ‘Pat’ Garvey ’57 BBA. Pat, a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, Colonel, United States Marine Corps Reserve, Brigadier General, N.Y. State Naval Militia, was called home July, 2019. We pray for his Wife, Elizabeth ‘Liz’, their Children, Dennis and Sharon, and their Family as the Family of mourn the loss of their loved one. Pat was a reserved man. He was a regular attendee at our Retreat which is where many of us knew him best. When Pat shared a thought in our breakout sessions, it came from his heart. He told me once that the Retreat was something he looked forward to and would attend as long as he was able to. He will be missed by all who knew him. The Family have shared the following Obituary which includes Mass of Christian Burial information for today, Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00AM, Church of The Holy Spirit, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. Interment will be Tuesday, July 16, 2019, Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, L.I., N.Y.

Semper Fi, Marine, God Speed. Thank you. God Bless.

Colon, Philip J. (MC1962)
