Peter Squitieri (R)

Education: Mount Vernon City School District; Manhattan College; master’s in health education.

The most important issue in this election: Being a Board of Aldermen to ensure checks and balances and to ensure our city finances are in order.

Other issues: I will work to keep your taxes low, or even lower, while providing infrastructure improvements, a top-notch education for our children, and responsible balanced development. It is also important to have transparency and communication between all Boards and Commissions.

Family: Married for four years with our first child (daughter) on the way in October.

Sister Alfred Marie Toole
1926 – 2019

Sparkill – Sister Alfred Marie Toole of the Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, New York, died on September 7, 2019 in Siena Hall. She was 92 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 14,1926, Catherine was the daughter of Alfred and Minerva Fernando Toole. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 8, 1951 and received the name Sister Alfred Marie. She professed her first vows in 1953 and final vows in 1958.

Sister Alfred Marie received a BS in Education from Fordham University, Bronx, NY, 1959; and an MA in Mathematics from Manhattan College, Bronx, NY, 1973.

Sister Alfred Marie taught at Cardinal McCloskey School, White Plains, NY (1953-1955); St. James, Carmel, NY (1955-1956); St. Anthony, Nanuet, NY (1956-1959); St. Mary Magdalen, Springfield Gardens, NY (1959-1965); Holy Family, Hicksville, NY (1965-1967); St. Martin of Tours, Bronx, NY (1967-1969); St. Catherine of Siena, NYC (1969-1970); Aquinas HS, Bronx, NY (1970-1977); St. Nicholas of Tolentine HS, Bronx, NY (1977-1978); St. Barnabas HS, Bronx, NY (1978-1990); St. Catharine Academy, Bronx, NY (1990-1994); St. Brendan School, Bronx, NY (1994-1997). From 1997-2003, Sister Alfred Marie was involved in Community Service at St. Brendan Convent.

Sister Alfred Marie is predeceased by her parents Alfred and Minerva Fernando Toole and her brother James. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marilyn Toole.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Sparkill, NY Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation is on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Dominican Convent, 175 Route 340, Sparkill, NY. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Arrangements are by Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Dominican Sisters, at the above address, attention -Sister Mary Murray, President.
