Edward was born on November 5, 1922 and passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017.

Edward was a resident of Poughkeepsie, New York at the time of passing.

He was a graduate of Manhattan Prep and attended Columbia University receiving a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Manhattan College in 1945.

He served with the Navy Seabees as a commissioned civil engineer during World War II (1942-1945) and the Korean War (1951-1953).

Visitation is Saturday, November 25, 2017, 1-2:30PM at the Wm.

Mass is to be held Saturday July 1st at 11am at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton with burial in the adjacent Boca Raton cemetery. Viewing will be Friday June 30th from 5:30pm until 7pm at Glick’s Funeral Home in Boca Raton.

Arthur K. McCormack, 92, of Pocantico Hills, passed away peacefully at his home on May 26, 2016.

Art was born to Alfred and Gertrude McCormack on Friday, February 29th, in the leap year of 1924. Raised in Yonkers, New York, he attended St. Denis Elementary School before enrolling in a preparatory program at Cathedral College. After high school, he spent two years at Dunwoodie Seminary and then completed his undergraduate work at Manhattan College, obtaining a degree in political science.

Art worked at Eastern Airlines, where he quickly rose through the ranks of ticket agent, supervisor and trainer to the position of manager at the East Side Terminal. After completing a masters program at Fordham University in 1966, Art became a member of the Social Studies Department at Fordham Preparatory School. In addition to his teaching duties, Art was the Director of Admissions, Financial Aid coordinator, and performed various other roles throughout his tenure. He was the first faculty representative elected to the Board of Trustees, on which he served from 1970 to 1996 including 20 years as the Board secretary. Art’s career at the Prep spanned 44 years, and he was inducted into the school’s Hall of Honor in 2009.

In addition to impacting the lives of those he taught, he served his community as an active parishioner of The Church of the Magdalene, as a member of the Rescue Hose Fire Department where he was a chief, at the Pocantico Hills Fire Department where he served as president, and as a long time member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick’s.

Art is predeceased by his wife Regina (2013), and is survived by his five children: Sean (Marina), Kevin (Mary Anne), Kerry (Paul), Maureen, and Artie (Gina) as well as seven grandchildren: Colleen, Kevin Barry, Emily, Matthew, Madeline, Thomas, and William. His family is grateful for the wonderful care and friendship provided to him by Emmanuel Gariba.

Visiting hours will be at the Dwyer and Vanderbilt Memorial Home in Tarrytown on Monday, May 30th from 4:00-8:00. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 31st at 11:00 at the Church of the Magdalene, Pocantico Hills, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fordham Preparatory School at 441 East Fordham Rd., Bronx, NY 10458 to establish a scholarship fund in the memory of Arthur K. McCormack.

AGE: 89 • Warren

Frank P. Valenziano died very peacefully at his home in Warren, New Jersey on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, surrounded by his wife, Mae, and his five children. Frank was 89 and was born in Staten Island, New York, the son of Angelina and Domenic Valenziano.

Frank received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College and his M.S. in Civil Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He was a World War II Navy veteran on the USS Midway as an Airborne Electronics Specialist. Starting as a young engineer, he rose to manage Intellectual Properties and retired after 34 years as Manager of Patents and Licensing for Interpace Corporation. To his credit, he has multiple patents to his name. Following his retirement, he was a partner in a successful manufacturing business until his full retirement in 2005. Frank was an extraordinary man who guided his family to push harder, do better, and to ultimately give back to others. Education and integrity were the core of his being which he stressed and impressed upon his kids, in-laws, and grandchildren.

He was married to the partner of his life for 64 years, Mae, and they were quite a team. He is survived by Mae; his older sister, Sarah Boyko; his five children, Carl (Kate), Philip (Maureen), Frank J. (Stephanie), Angela Ross (Scott), and Mark (Lori). He has 14 outstanding grandchildren who cherish him as a grandfather and mentor, and three great-grandchildren.

Frank’s wish is a cause very close to his heart. Ohlandt, John Frederick – age 90 passed away peacefully on June 20th.

He was the beloved brother of Sr. Joanna Ohlandt, CSJ and Katherine Ohlandt-O’Connor, and also leaves a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law and 23 nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Manhattan College and St. John’s Law School, and served in the US Army.

He was employed in the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office, and was a Patent Attorney with IBM before establishing his own practice which became Ohlandt Greeley Ruggerio & Perle LLP, from which he retired.

He will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and considerate gentleman.

Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, on Monday, June 24 at 10 am.

The second Obituary shared by John Reinke, Jasper Jottings, is of Fellow Jasper, John Frederick Ohlandt ’45 BS and St John’s Law School. BERNHOLZ, EDWARD L.

Edward L. Bernholz, Jr., of Danbury, beloved husband of Barbara A. Bernholz, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital, on Sunday, June 2, 2013.

Edward was born in Bronx, NY, son of the late Edward L. and Lillian Bernholz, Sr.

He graduated from All Hallows High School, Manhattan College and Fordham University, where he received his Masters Degree.

He served in the US Army during WWII and spent his career as a Chemical Engineer. He retired from the Sikorsky Aircraft Company.

As a forty-five year Danbury resident, he was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church, the State of Connecticut Catholic War Veterans and Danbury Catholic War Veterans Associations, where he had served as a Past Commander, Danbury Veterans Council and the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three nieces and seven great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William F. Bernholz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery, Mendham, NJ. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, 8 Robinson Ave., Danbury, CT 06810.
