JEMAIL: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) calls attention to Gold Star Mothers Emogene Cupp’s Birthday

Good Evening All,

This is a special prayer request and a beautiful story that began with a terrible loss by a grieving Mother after the death of her Son in Vietnam. It is a short story that I know you will all want to read and perhaps reach out to Mrs. Emogene Cupp, American Gold Star Mothers. You will see the details as you read just a little further. A side story that is also inspiring and beautiful in itself, is that of ” A Band Of Brothers ” (and Duster Buddies) NDQSA, and what they have done. This was brought to my attention by a good Friend, Al Hansen ( a Duster Buddy ), Member of the Retreat Team and Prayer Group. I had heard of American Gold Star Mothers but was not aware of who and what they were. Please google them when you have a moment.

I will be sending Mrs. Cupp, a Birthday Card, she has honored all Veterans. Please read the following.

Thank you. God Bless.

Joe and my DUSTER BUDDIES have been very supportive of Gold Star Mothers over the years. As a result of a Gold Star Mother mentioning to Joe that she and other Gold Star Mothers had often talked about visiting areas in Viet Nam where their sons had fought.

As a result, NDQSA, our band of brothers, set up and funded a program that facilitated quite a number of Gold Star Mother trips to Viet Nam –  I believe seven. NDQSA created a program funded by our membership that covered all transportation, lodging and meals for any  Gold Star Mother and a companion who expressed an interest in going. Members of our association and their wives, at their own expense, also volunteered to escort our guest Gold Star Mothers.

Over the last few years OUR MOTHERS, due to advanced age, have difficulty in traveling. Never the less, they are still in our hearts.

Please help us out by saluting Mother Emogene Cupp’s 99th Birthday!

We would appreciate if you would be so kind as to send Mother Imogene a card, as well as pass this message on.

Joe, Our Brothers and I thank you,

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I am asking all of you for a Giant Favor.

An American Gold Star Mother and a very personal friend of mine
and all veterans will be celebrating her 99th birthday on January 20th.

Please mail her a birthday card.

Emogene Cupp is the oldest past president of the American Gold Star Mothers. She was the Gold Star Mother who appeared before congress and persuaded them to approve and pass the bill for the construction of the Vietnam Memorial WALL. Her son, Cpl. Robert W. Cupp, was killed by a booby trap in Vietnam. He was laid to rest on his 21st birthday, June 17, in his family’s plot in Alexandria, Va. Her Daughter Sue sent me the following email.

Mom will turn 99 years old on January 20th and due to her failing health, I do not plan to give her a birthday party. I thought I would give her a “Card Party”.  She loves to receive cards and I know it would make her happy to receive a birthday card from all of you. Please feel free to pass this info to anyone you think would like to help her celebrate her 99th birthday by sending her a birthday card.
Please mail her a birthday card to:
Ms. Emogene Cupp

Stephens City, VA 22655

JEMAIL: Gilda, Bill (MC1962) asks “Who are the extremists?”

Wed, Jan 2, 4:14 PM

Who are the extremists?

Bill Gilda ’62

[JR: Saw that as an example of that “anti” mindset (i.e., anti-Catholic; anti-Semitic; anti-American; anti-peace, racist, champion of victimhood identify politics) among “democrats” and “liberals”.  The “democrats” and liberals are the new reborn KKK, imho!  And we tolerate them at our own peril.]

JEMAIL: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) “Happy Thanksgiving”

Hello Dear Friends,

As we get ready for Thanksgiving, it is a beautiful time to join in our hearts and minds to give thanks for God’s Blessings. It is a time when we in giving thanks and in some way sharing with those less fortunate, we can remember how Blessed we are. Our Pastor down here in Delaware, Father Ed Ogden, urges us, as we close our day, to begin our prayers by remembering what we are grateful for for the day. I can tell you that you are on my list of that for which I am grateful at the end of each day.

Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you. God Bless.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for little Luke

RE: Our Littlest Jasper – A Happy Birthday

Good Evening All,

Tomorrow, our littlest Jasper, Luke, will be celebrating, unless I have lost count, his eleventh Birthday, November 12, 2018. I know that he will have on his very special and room brightening smile. It is usually accompanied by his ” Shades ” but that depends on whether he feeels like wearing them or not. Either way his smile will tell you what is in his heart. He will be surrounded by his Loving Parents, his loving Grandparents and in our hearts he will be surrounded by those of us who have known him, our littlest Jasper, who packs a don’t give up spirit to make a United States Marine Corps Drill Instructor proud. Please keep Luke in your prayers as we wish Luke the best of Birthdays filled with love and laughter. Thank you. God Bless.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Joseph

Good Afternoon All,

From Jerry Lynch, a good friend to me, Fellow Jasper, past Speaker at our Retreat asks for our prayers for his Twin Brother, Joseph Lynch. The Miracle of unconditional Brotherly love happened when these two Brothers came into this world and that bond has not broken but has grown and deepened. Now Joe is in the final stages of Diabetes, in his case, a pernicious and unrelenting desease that has overcome his organs and refusing to let go. it has been said that Twins can feel each others pain. I have seen that manifested in one or two cases and I can tell you that the pain and loss felt by Jerry is very real and such a tribute to their love and caring for each other. Please raise the volume for Jerry’s brother Joe, for Jerry and their Families as they share this last part of Joe’s journey. We pray that the sure and certain knowledge that our Lord will Welcome and lovingly Embrace Joe as he is called home, will help lessen the pain of loss and that the realization they will meet again free of desease and sorrow will also lessen the hurt of Loss. Thank you all. God Bless.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Barbara

Good Morning All,

An update on Barbara McEneney, who has been in our prayers. Barbara, Ed McEneney’s Wife, went home on Sunday, September 9, 2018, after a 13 day stay in Hospital. Barbara will still need the Intravenous Antibiotics while at home and Ed is becoming quite proficient in administering them. Barbara is still suffering from pain. We pray that the continued medications have the desired result.
Please keep the volume up for Barbara as we pray that she finally find relief. Please keep Ed in your prayers as well. Thank you Mike McEneney for sharing the update. Thank you all. God Bless.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Lisa

Good Evening All,

I ask for your prayers for Mrs. Lisa Shikany Hatfield. Lisa, 48 years old, Wife and Mother of two lovely Daughters, Kacy -16 , Emma – 14 is the Niece of two good Friends that Peggy and I care about (Yvette & Rick). Lisa was diagnosed this Summer with terminal Cancer, Multiple Myloma. She is on an aggressive Radiation/Chemo/Bone Marrow Treatment plan hoping to slow down the Cancer and put her in Remission. She is a devout Catholic and Yvette shares with us that Lisa has shown an incredibly strong resiliency throughout this process. We pray that Lisa’s treatments have the hoped for outcome. We pray that God’s healing hand touches this good Woman and her Family in their time of need. We pray that they feel God’s Love and strength. We pray, that as this loving Family share their time together, that God guides the Doctors decisions in their treatment recommendations. Please raise the volume for Lisa and her Family. Praise God. Thank you. God Bless.
