JOBIT: Hogan, Bob [MC1975 RIP] by Colon, Philip J. (MC1962)

Good Morning All,
Tom McCarthy has shared some sad news with us.
Colon, Philip J. (MC1962)
# – # – # – # – #
FYI, I just shared word with members of the College’s Pipe Band that its founder, Bob Hogan was killed in a tragic boating accident yesterday off the north shore of Long Island.
Bob received his MBA from the College in 1975 and was asked by Br. Kenneth Fitzgerald to help him start the band in 1980-81. He remained involved in the NYPD Emerald Society over the years and was himself a retired captain with the NYPD and a former assistant transportation commissioner.
Bob was the father of Mike Hogan ’91 who took over for his father as director of the Band some 15 years ago or so.
The Following was the message Tom sent the Members of the Band and others.
Sad news to share with you all this morning. A boating fire off the Manhasset Marina yesterday afternoon claimed the life of our own Bob Hogan MBA ’75, one of the Band’s founders and father of our current director, Mike Hogan ’91. Read more.
I heard from Mike this morning who is naturally without words. I’ll pass along word about any arrangements when their family shares them.
Bob was a great man, a family man, and cared deeply about the College, its students, and our Irish and musical tradition. He touched so many through his outstanding career of civil and public service and will be sorely missed.
Please keep Bob, Mike, and the Hogan family in your prayers.
Thomas A. McCarthy ’06
